As ruby and mom where talking in the kitchen I decided to take a seat at the table and so did Olivia. For someone who's parents got deported she seems surprisingly calm

Mom walks back into the dining room with ruby trailing right behind her

"But it would be cruel and unusual to leave her alone in this time of tragedy." Ruby points out

"I could always comfort her, you know. A girl." I said with a smirk written across my face, showing off my dimples

"No." Mother replied

"Come on, I'm the man for the job." Ruby adds

"More like a Man-child." I replied

"Leilani, I'm gonna really need you to shut up and and let my ego ease."

I roll my eyes at this. What ego exactly?

The bell rings and me and Ruby go to answer the door. Turns out it's Monse, Jamal, and Cesar

I looked at Cesar who was looking back at me. I rolled my eyes. I'm still mad about how insensitive he's being

"Where here to feng Shui you room!." Monse said excited. I don't remember ruby asking them to do that." That's why we're here."

"I don't have my own room but.. I have a boner." Ruby says. That's gross. I do not want to hear about ruby nonfunctional addiction towards our half cousin or whatever. "Our cousin just moved in. Not like cousin, cousin? More like 'What's up Cuz?."

"Either way it's weird." I added on. "And know he has a supermega crush on her."

"Like fam, but not fam."

"Like if you can't keep it in your pants, keep it in the family." Cesar implied. I raised my eyebrow and shook my head

What type of metaphor is that? What are we teaching our children?

"Exactly! No, not not exactly."

"What ruby is trying to say is that we aren't blood related to her." I jumped in. How clueless are you people?

"There is no inbreeding. Oh, and call me Rueben. I'm going by Rueben now." Rueben says

"Ruby! Ruby! Ruby!." Our mother screams.

It seems like he just can not win today. Mother walks out and crosses her arm

"Rueben." He corrected

"Are you forgetting something?." Other asked. As Olivia walks out of the house right on cue. "Guys, this is Olivia. She's staying with us, for a little while. Okay."

Mom heading back into the house as Olivia stood in front of us awkwardly

"Is it just me or did things just get weird?." Olivia questioned

"It's you." Me and Monse replied at the same time

"I'm Monse." Monse said introducing herself. "This is Jamal, and Cesar."

"Ignore the stares, they haven't been neutered." I said. I cross my arms and lean against Ruby

Who seems stuck watching Olivia. So are Jamal and Cesar who staring her down like she's a last slice of pizza

My stomach dropped when I saw Cesar staring at her. Makes me wondering what he stares at when I'm not around

"Jamal, why don't you tell Olivia, what you did not do to your neck." Monse said. "Ruby, can we discuss our chem assignment."
