''Kayla, I love you! Said Jem, impressed by how she answered to Lidia. I love you, and I hate Lidia!''

All five friends laughed. Jem always found a way to make things funny. The five kids decided to plan their ''little trip'' to the swamp. Ethan, Sam and Kay still didn't find a way to change Jem and Leo's minds.

About a week later, they finally came up with a plan.

Jem thought they should ask the permission to go on a walk. Of course, their parents wouldn't let them go alone, so one parent would have to go with them. Then, Leo and Jem would start running everywhere and disturbing the parent, letting Ethan, Sam and Kay time to escape. The three children would hide in the tree in front of Leo's house.

The two boys would run in the opposite direction, sprinting, so the parent wouldn't see the others run away. Then, the two boys would stop running and they would wait for the parent to catch up. Then, they would run as fast as they could to the entrance in the cedar hedge connecting Kay's house to Jem's. They would hide in the hedge until the parent would walk away, looking for them elsewhere.

Then, Ethan and the girls were supposed to meet the two boys in the hedge. The would walk in the hedge and get out when they were in Kay's backyard, so they could go in the swamp.

It was the perfect plan, and it worked perfectly. Now, the five kids were in the swamp, but they soon realized that there was nothing left, not even a single drop of blood. The police and the rain did a good job in taking away proof and pretty much everything that could've helped the kids investigate.

That was not the only thing that the kids forgot to plan. They didn't plan how they would skip the huge punition waiting for them at home. Jem thought he would be stuck at home doing chores until school started, so about a week. He thought that Kayla would have to listen to a severe lecture, not punished, but he was so wrong! Kay's parents almost never punished her, but when they learned what she did, they told her she couldn't eat dessert for a month, talk or see any of her friends until school started, except of course Sam, and that she would have to wash all the dishes for at least five days. Of course, she couldn't go on the computer for a week.

Jem was extremly surprised when he heard that and felt extremly bad too. After all, the plan was his idea. One day, he was alone with Kay's mom, so he tried to tell her, but the results were horrible:

''You are such a stupid jerk! I don't even know why my daughter talks to you and why I let  her. You are a bad  influence and you will never  convince me otherwise, got it? Never! Now get away from me and my husband and my daughter or you will regret  this! Like, what you saw, that murder, will seem as appealing as a candy  after I'm finished with you if you ever let my Kay-love in one of your wicked plans!''

Jem was so frightened, he almost didn't realize she grabbed him. He always thought Kay's mom was nice, but he was changing his mind really  fast. He decided for his own good that he wouldn't tell Kay about this ... discussion. Jem told himself that Kay's mom was just really tired and stressed, with Lidia checking everything in her house.

Still, he couldn't get the threat out of his mind. What was worse than the murder he witnessed?

Whatever it was, Jem didn't intend on finding out...

Hey! You didn't stop reading! Figured that if I was going to post those, ugh, I hate them, ''please vote and comment'' posts, I could at least say ''hey'' to you. Really, I sometimes joke around while writting these little paragraphs, but I NEVER joke when I say ''thank you''. See you in the next chapter... I hope!
