Megahn couldn't sit still, she sat out the front of her new home. The Pack house of Blue Moon pack stood proud and tall infront of her, windows open it looked like an expensive hotel. Her parents were going to meet her here - that's why she was so nervous. Her palms sweated and everytime a car pulled up her head would whip in the direction. Shoulders slumped she leaned against the fence.
She hadn't lived with her parents in her life - she had lived with an elderly lady, her Nanny Sadiee. Sometimes her parents would visit her, throughout her lifetime. Nineteen and finally she was being introduced to real society. Sadiee had dropped her off, said goodbye and left her alone on the front steps. Another car pulled up, her head again snapping up, standing up straight she stubbed her toe on her collection of luggage bags. Cursing under her breath, she held her cry of pain in. Another car pulled up behind that one.
That was the catch - her parents weren't in love. They weren't mates. They had just been company, distracting each other - but then they had her. Her Mother stayed with Sadiee, delivered her and after nursing - went right back to war.
A woman stepped out of the first car, a man out of the second. She recognized them only because she had studied their photos in the weeks leading up to now. Rubbing her hands on her new jeans, she only stared, not having caught their gazes yet. Her Mother had the same wavy, frizzy as her gleaming in a bright cold - probably where she got it, but her own hair was a hazelnut brown - looking further down her Father had the hair colour she possessed - and it was thick. Her hair had the same shine as his.
Her legs jittered and she tried to stay upright, but all she wanted to do was jump into the bush and hide. She had never been around so many people her age that weren't dead. A group of high-pitched girls raced past her with their arms linked in each other. The noise caught her parents attention, their heads whipping in her direction - bodies tense.
They exchanged glances, slowly making their way over to her as the drivers carry their bags. She can't help but freeze, gulping as her parents eyed anyone to close to her. She was forcing herself to look at them, to not cry and turn away - like she did whenever anyone visited when she was younger.
"Hello - I am Captain Amity and this is Major Lea." The large woman introduced, holding her hand out for Megahn to shake. Taking a step back, rubbing her sweaty palms subtly on her jeans before shaking her Mothers hand awkwardly.
"You are - Megahn, correct?" Her Father raised an eyebrow, hair gelled back. They were the pictute perfect soldiers.
"Y-yes." She cleared her throat, trying to fight back panic as they stared at her. Evaluating her. Sadiee had gotten her a new wardrobe to impress her parents. New jeans and a new, buttoned up, light blue blouse.
"Welcome back Aimty, Lea." A large man walked out, followed by two others. Obviously the Alpha, his son and the Beta. "And your child - Megahn?" Megahn only nodded, shifting from foot to foot as everyone spared her a glance - but then the focus was again on her parents. The Alpha went on and on about her parents battlefield achievements and how proud they should be. A few people came out and picked up her two suitcases - one of them catching her gazes. They were annoyed with her. The two women dragged the suitcases away and Megahn watched after them. Who were they?
"Yes sir, we will see you again in eighteen hundred." Nodding their heads, her parents walked off without her. Tears pricked her eyes as she slowly made after them, dragging her feet awkwardly. They watched her walk into the building, and she felt more eyes on her parents - she looked like a fan, a follower, an airhead.
Biting her lip, she caught up to her parents, both of them not saying anything. She felt like she should fill the tension. "If we're seeing the Alpha again at eighteen hundred - what time is it now, in twenty-four hour time?" She asked, fiddling with the end of her blouse that was once tucked in.
"Thirteen-hundred." Her Father replied bluntly as they turned a corner. Backs straight, on arm at the side and one in a fist at their back.
She didn't engage in another conversation with them, instead falling behind, ducking her head. She may as well get lost, someone will end up pointing her in the right direction if she asked. That's what Sadiee said to do if she got lost. Taking a different turn she eyed where she was, the walls, the paintings.
It was like a castle in the story books Sadiee would read to her when she was little. And it was nothing like the small hut she lived in with Sadiee - surrounded by nothing but open fields with a forest on the outskirts. The war was far away, but some sunrises the horizon would be red with blood. Day and nights she could hear gun shots, screams and battle crys. Werewolves banned together with Hunters to fight against rogues.
She turned down a hallway but at the end it was very dark, causing her to take stumbling steps back. She was lost now. "Hello?" She heard footsteps, calling out was the smartest thing she could do.
"S-sorry, I didn't mean t-to get in your way." She jumped at the voice breaking the silence, twirling around there was a guy on his knees behind her. Her wolf instantly responded, her chest blooming and her own knees wanted to give to be face to face with him. Scents of claming and exciting things filled her nose - she took it all in with a deep breath, revelling in it.
Mate. That idea excited her - something to make her time a little more uplifting.
Sadiee had told her about mates - reluctantly, considering her parents weren't mates - Sadiee didn't want to answer any of her questions.
"How - hello." She blushed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before crouching down to be eye level with him. "I'm Megahn - what's your name?"
"W-Wren." He flinched at his own voice, ducking his head down. His hair a clay red, his cheeks full and eyes haunted.
"Wren." She repeated, watching his eyelashes flutter. She slowly started to lean in - just a kiss would do to satisfy her curiosity.
"Go on then." his voice held more of an aggressive tone, pain behind it. "Reject me." Taken aback, Megahns eyebrows shot up.
"What?" She knew about rejection, Sadiee only told her about it once - in a story. It sucked.
"Reject me - I'm an outcast. Orphan." He spat, pushing away from her, now disgust in his eyes - and annoyance. Everyone in this pack seemed so judgmental.
"Wait - don't go." She stood up quickly, towering over him, eyebrows furrowed. Wren was confusing her. "I'm lost - can you please help me?" His stopped inching away, but his eyebrows drew together. She would avoid the mate topic for now - instead find a way to her "room".
"O-okay." He stuttered, soaking in her features.
