Megahn twirled her hair as her mate shook shyly. "I don't know where my room is - I kind of just got here." She bit her lip, watching as Wren stared nervously at her mouth. But then he absorbed her words and his eyes widened and gaze flicked up to her own - terror and fear evident in the dark orbs. "Are you okay?"

"Y-You're Megahn Lea?" He balked, taking a trembling step back before falling to his knees once again. He bowed his head in shame. "Your parents are major and captain - conquered the rogue war." She watched him flinch on the word rogue. She didn't miss it.

"That's creepy - knowing my last name I mean." She giggled, sighing in distress. Wren was already afraid of her, but now it had clicked that he knew who her parents were. And their reputation. "Do you think you could help me to my room? I don't know where it is."

"Yes sir." He replied, standing on shaking legs. She was supposed to say 'sir' to her parents - but they're no longer part of the army.

"Call me Megahn babe - not sir." She smiled sweetly, wanting to wrap her legs around his waist and bury her lips into his neck - mark him. Her wolf bubbled to the surface, sending shivers down her spine.

Mate. Mate. Mate.

Like a chant through her mind - howling out to lock herself in a room with him. Her parents would envy her, she realised. That thought made pain enter her chest, that if her parents found their mates they would leave each other - and maybe even her.

"I-I'm sorry - sorry Megahn." He didn't look her in the eyes, his clay red hair all she could see. "Right - Right this way." He cleared his throat, turning and walking away from her - to her room. Skipping after him, she fell into step beside him, eyes trained on his face that a blush bloomed on.

"Tell me about yourself." She demanded, wrapping her arm in his. She watched him look at her in confusion, but all she did was lean closer - staring at his lips. A tiny scar was on his upper lip, she also didn't miss that.

"I - I - me?" He choked, stuttering and fumbling over his words. She nodded, as he ducked his head away from hers. "I - I work here. Clean-Cleaning. Cooking." She listened hard - furrowing her brows. Why would he want to work like that? Unless he didn't have any other choice.

"Oh - do you like doing that?" She asked, cringing at her stupid question. "I don't think I've ever spoken to a boy this long." She thought out loud, looking down at her feet for a brief moment. It was true - she only had Sadiee and once in a blue moon her parents for a few hours. Wren didn't reply, instead now he stared at her. Her wavy hair and tanned complexion - she must have been in the sun a lot.

"Did - did you fi-fight?" He gulped, watching as she whipped her head into his direction - her soft gaze going hard.

"Depends what you call fighting." She whispered, staring ahead of them - her arm tightened slightly around his arm. Mine. She had fought her own battles - the emotional one of having to grow up a few miles away from a battlefield. The training her parents insisted Sadiee gave her - a whole arena and course that would distract her from herself.

"Oh." Was his reply - his head snapped up. People were approaching. He reefed his arm from her grip and backed himself against the wall. Away from her.

"Wren - " he balked, eyes wide as he stared at her. The Alpha's son, Brent, walked down the hallway with swagger. "Brent." She greeted, watching him sneer at Wren, her eyes dead on him and the cold look made Wren sink further into the wall.

"Soldier." He mocked saluted, a lazy grin on his face. Megahn turned her nose up at him, eyeing Wren who bowed his head, knees shaking. "What are you doing in this hallway?" He looked down the hallway, and didn't acknowledge Wren's existence. "And without your parents." He took a step closer and Megahn sneered.

"Take a step back." She ordered, her body tensed - she didn't like people she didn't invite in her personal space. Brent raised his hands up in mock surrender and chuckled - but he took that step back.

"Shouldn't keep you from your parents - I'll take you to them." He offered, taking a step to the side, close to Wren who scrunched his eyes tightly closed. But mate?

"No need to worry Brent, my tour is already sorted." She said, forcing herself to not look at Wren. Something was wrong and she knew if she looked at him it would get worse - she could feel, smell the fear leaking from him. Pouring its way into the dark hallway, she knew Brent could smell it - how could he not? It was all she could smell.

"Don't get lost." He walked past her, bumping his shoulder against hers. She dug hers in, instantly noticing the signs of hostility - that she was raised to notice. When Brent fianlly dissappeared, wincing, Wren leapt off the wall.

"Why - you can't do that! He - He is the Alpha." Wren's face pale and eyes wide. The fear was still there - along with disbelief. Megahn meerly shrugged, taking a step towards him with another sweet smile.

"I didn't recognize him as an authority figure. He hasn't earned it - all he has is his Fathers title." She started walking back down the hallway, Wren hot on her heels. He didn't have a reply, instead he followed her down the hallway - pointing her in the directions she needed to take.

"Uh - you - your housing establishment is just through that door." He ducked his head down, realising this is the end of their cute walk.

"Do you want to come in?" She angled her hand again to twirl her hair, opening the door and dragging him in - no choice. Wren locked up as they stood in a furnished loft. Rugs, couches, televisions - it went all out. A wooden staircase led up to an indoor balcony that had the bedrooms. "What even is that?" She asked, flicking a table ornament. "This place is huge." Wren stared at her, biting back that there were larger lofts than this one. "Hey Wren, I was wondering - would you maybe want to go for a run with me somtime?" She turned around to him nervously.

Wren back up out the door way, his eyes again wide. She didn't know. He bit back tears as he shook his head, turning and running down the hallway to Marine. He tried to block out as his mate called him back - yelling his name in confusion. She would find out - and then she would reject him. Especially the daughter of two famous war veterans.

She wanted better. She got better.
