Chapter one

-Past 10 Years Old-

The air suddenly became thick with tension and everybody’s worry filled thoughts, I scanned everyone’s face and not one person had made a sound.

I stood before my best friend’s lifeless body in utter horror; I had tried so hard with all my might to save her as soon as that silly vision had gone through my head. Shrieks and loud screams echoed around the play ground as people put two and two together.

Leah’s blond hair fell lifelessly in front of her face, while her blue eyes were locked on mine. The long chain of the swing was wrapped around her neck, and now her neck was turned completely sideways in an inhuman looking manner.

I had told Leah many times to never flip backwards on the swing when you are swinging on it; I had always had bad feelings about her on swings.

My hand lightly skimmed over her cheek bone before reaching her eyes, standing on my tippy toes I gently closed her eyes not wanting them to stare at me anymore.

I was roughly grabbed by the arms and spun around, looking around I now noticed a couple of the teachers had circled around me and Leah. As if trying to hide the scene from the other children, but doing a very poor job but with a bunch of 10 year olds it’s what you except.

I am raised like an adult never once has my father babied me or even tried to, since the death of my mother and the birth of me part of him died along with my mother.

My mother left my 24 year old father to raise me, and she made him promise as her last dying wish to take care of me and raise me strong.

He raised me strong and made me very distant with others somewhat like himself in a way but I had not gone off the edge like he has…yet anyway.

“Hadley, what happened to her what did you see!?” Mrs. Land asked me shrieking in her high voice out of fright, but by now it was too late my sanity had slipped through my fingers and everything seemed irrational.

Tears poured out of my eyes to fast for me to even try to wipe away because they would be replaced with more soon after.

One of the many lessons my father always gives me is never get to attached in the end everybody dies and when you least expect it.

This was the only rule of my father’s that I have ever broken, and this was the most important one to him that he always told me.

My eyes felt heavy as a warm presence flooded my senses, this was nothing new to me though I had always felt the spirits and demons of people who have passed on.

I knew that Leah was here by the way I was feeling it has always been like this when I meet a spirit.

My father’s mother and my grandmother explained to me what these feelings where to me in one of my many dream visions as she called them.

I had never met my grandmother in real life but in my dreams she is always there, she had died long before I was born from an unknown cause.

With my eyes sealed shut I could see Leah standing in front of me with a tear stained face, but had a smile on just like always.

A voice so soft and sweet that could only be Leah’s spoke ever so clear “You are going to do great things Hadley when you are older I have seen. I need you to try and find a way to get my baby sister out of that house; there are bad things that are going to infest her body if you don’t.”

She gave me a week and very faded smile before continuing “My parents are going to die on June 17th which is in a couple of weeks they are both going to kill themselves. Like I was saying though you must get Sophia out, because when my parents die very bad spirits are going to come and into that house and Sophia is a good spirit they will make her a demon child. You have to make sure she gets out of the house before June 17th and thank you for trying to save me.”

Her blond hair shined as a bright light began to swallow her whole “I will miss you and remember this day and don’t shove your gift away when it comes in a few years.” With that my best friend was gone just like she came, slowly my eyes opened to see the chaos over Leah’s body but there was nothing they could do she was in heaven now far beyond their reach where she was at peace.
