Chapter 6

Niall P.O.V.

”Is that Frank Sinatra?” I asked, listening closely. She blushed as she answered. “Yeah, I listen to it as I study all of the time, my friends think it’s weird, but I love jazz and his voice-” “No, I love Sinatra.” I gave her a reassuring smile as I cut her off. We stared at each other for a few seconds before Harry coughed, signaling to us that this was awkward. I blushed this time as she looked away, searching desperately for something else to draw her attention. “I’m going to make you guys dinner; you can go play Fifa 10 on the Xbox downstairs if you want.” We all cheered as she left the room and made her way downstairs to the kitchen. Once she was out of earshot Zayn came up to me. “Dude, she likes you!” He said as he took a seat on her unmade bed. “No, she’s like that with everyone.” I said, dismissing the thought from my head, as much as I wanted his words to be true. “We’re going to get our game on, stay here until you sort out your feelings.” They left and closed the door, leaving me alone in her room. I looked around at all of her pictures. It made me miss home a little bit as I saw the pictures of her with her pets and her family. I looked at the pictures of who I assumed to be her brother. He seemed like a really nice guy based on the things she told me about him. I started looking at what seemed like a snow globe collection. Next time I went on tour I had to bring her back one! I was looking at her one from France more closely as I knocked something else over. I quickly put the globe and got nervous, thinking it was another snow globe, hoping that I hadn’t broken it. I turned to see a notebook lying open on the ground. I wasn’t sure if it was a journal or a homework notebook, so I decided it would be best to put it back when I noticed my name in what I assumed to be her neat script. I shouldn’t read it, but I had to. I flipped the pages back to the beginning; clearly showing it was only a one-entry notebook. It was a journal entry talking about how much she missed her brother. It had so much emotion in the few words she had on the page that I almost teared up as I read it.  But then I got to the part where I was mentioned. I read over the lines again and again, feeling my face light up each and every time. “I’ve recently been listening to One Direction to get my mind off of Russ. I love them, but one member specifically. Niall Horan. I don’t even know how to describe him. He’s cute; he’s funny, and just so carefree and relatable. He’s so grounded, and his voice is probably the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. If I could just have the chance to meet him, and show him that I would be perfect for him. The brown haired, green-eyed girl from Maine who loves to play and watch soccer and who also loves to sing. If only he could see who I really was. But no miracle could happen that big. If I could just meet him… My life would be perfect. He’s perfect, without being perfect. He’s attractive too, if I haven’t mentioned that…” I smiled as I read this, on a natural high. Does this mean she likes me? I wanted to know. I had to know.
