Chapter 33
My P.O.V
“So now all of One Direction is taken? Teenage girls around the world are going to be devastated.” The interviewer said. I hadn’t realized Niall and I’s relationship was going public yet, and apparently Niall didn’t either based on how red his face just turned. “So who are these lucky ladies?” She asked, trying to get as much information out of these boys as she could. Zayn pointed over to Amy, as Amy blushed slightly while waving to the camera that was now pointed towards her. “How did you meet Amy?” The interview asked. “Well, I saw her on stage at one of our concerts, and our eyes just met and I had to see her again.” All of the boys made kissy noises at Zayn as his cheeks began to flush, shaking his head as if he didn’t mind getting teased about it. “Now Liam, still with Danielle?” “Yes I am, I guess I’m just the boring one.” I saw a hint of pain flicker in Liam’s eyes. He had been fighting a lot with Danielle lately and I knew it was really starting to bother him. “Harry?” Harry gestured over to Nicole who was standing next to me. With Nicole being my closest cousin, I knew she wasn’t the most calm in front of cameras. She wasn’t bad but I knew sometimes she got stage fright. This was not the case. She nonchalantly walked over to Harry and put herself in his waiting arms, taking his hand in hers as she introduced herself. I hadn’t realized how much confidence Harry had given her, and it made me happy to see that she herself was finally happy. I smiled at them before I realized that someone was calling my name. “Christina, come here.” Niall said with a nervous smile plastered on his face, motioning for me to come over and join him with the rest of the boys in the interview. I shot a desperate look at Lola, knowing that of all people she understood why I wasn’t the person to be in front of a camera. She urged me on, giving me a thumbs up like she did whenever I had to give presentations for my class at school. I took a deep breath and sat down on the couch next to him as he took my hand, rubbing it gently with his thumb. He knew that of all people I was probably the worst in front of cameras. Everybody knew that- especially if anyone had ever seen me give presentations at school. I just got so nervous when I had to speak in front of people or be in front of a camera. Niall helped to soothe me as the interview asked him questions about our relationship. “How long have you guys been dating? It must be pretty serious if you guys are together on tour. Unless you just met her here? Where did you guys meet?” The multiple questions threw me off and caused my head to start spinning, making me panic if Niall or I was supposed to answer. Thankfully, Niall noticed and began answering it. “Well, we’ve been dating for a few weeks, and I met her at a private concert I was giving. She actually gave me a bruised arm and a few paper cuts the first time we met…” Niall joked while trying to make the mood lighter, nudging me in the ribs with his elbow. “I did not! Well yes I did run into you but I didn’t ask you to dive on the ground! Basically I dropped something and he decided to kill himself trying to get it, it’s not my fault you wanted to get a bruised arm.” Being with Niall made me more comfortable talking on camera, letting me loosen up a bit. The interviewer looked really confused, so Niall decided to explain the story of how we met to her. “So was it love at first sight?” She asked, her eyes sparkling as she spoke. She seemed like the kind of woman that wouldn’t be married and would sit at home with her cat and read romance novels, just by the way she got so excited about all of the boys and their love lives. “I guess it was.” Niall said, smiling down at me as he pecked my lips. The interview concluded as we all walked out of the building, heading back to our hotel to get ready for the boys’ concert. The group walked in front of us, giggling and joking around as Niall and I stayed back a little. “I just wanted to apologize for making us go public. I never asked you if you were ok with it and honestly I wasn’t planning on doing that, it just seemed like a normal answer to a question when I have a girlfriend to say I do and I know I should have asked-” I cut him off with my finger to his lips. “It doesn’t matter- we’re dating anyway and now it’s no longer a secret, it’s no big deal. The only problem is the big Mr. Horan has to no longer be single.” He smiled at this and pulled my waist closer to his as we walked, rubbing my arm. “I don’t have a problem with that.”
We got back to the hotel not soon after the interview, but the boys had to quickly grab their rehearsal stuff and leave again with Paul. I didn’t really know what they actually needed if their clothes and everything else was there but I didn’t care; I just wanted to get ready for my first One Direction concert! Theoretically, I had been to one, but it was really short, it was in my neighbors’ backyard, and I had barely known Niall then. Honestly, I didn’t really know him now seeing we’d only known each other for a few weeks, but we’d shared so much with each other and basically knew everything about each others’ lives so much that it seemed like we had known each other for ages. Amy and Nicole wanted to go with the boys just in what they were wearing so it left Lola and I alone. We hadn’t really seen much of each other the past few days, and by seeing I meant had any heartfelt chats. She helped me get ready, like she always does, picking out my outfit and doing my makeup for me because clearly I was incapable of doing so myself. The summer nights had begun getting colder so I compromised with Lola and decided to go with a pair of skinny jeans, my white converse, and a green flowy shirt that I had borrowed from Lola. It changed the color of my eyes from their usual blue to more of a sea foam green, matching the shirt. Lola wasn’t a fashion expert, but she definitely knew more about actually getting clothes to match than I did. She wore her skinny jeans with a t-shirt with blue stripes that made her resemble Louis, something that we had planned for going to a One Direction concert before we even met the boys-to dress up as one of the boys. She wore her black combat boots with it as we both grabbed our purses and got a taxi. I never thought of Massachusetts having a lot of taxis but I forgot that we were in Boston. The driver dropped us off at the concert as we split the fare. We searched through the crowds of girls, hoping to find Paul or the boys or Nicole and Amy or anyone to help us get to where we needed to go seeing we didn’t have tickets. I texted Niall asking where Paul was, but I knew I wouldn’t get a response because he was probably rehearsing with the rest of the boys. I texted Nicole when I didn’t get a response back from Niall. Of course when I sent my text Niall replied back. Niall Horan says: Hey love! Sorry just rehearsing with the lads, I’ll send Paul out to get u and Lola, Nicole&Amy r with us already, can’t wait to see u in the audience, see u soon xx I put the phone back into my jeans pocket as Lola and I walked around the complex again searching for Paul. Finally we spotted him in the crowd and he smiled at us, ushering us through the fans to back stage. Once we were past everyone I saw the door in the hall that was marked “One Direction” and Paul directed us into it. The boys were running through One Thing, not noticing we had walked in. Their voices were literally perfect together, especially when they could just sing at whatever volume they wanted and without microphones. Once they were finished Paul had already left and Lola and I started clapping, the boys jolting around, momentarily thinking we were just random fans. In truth, we were just random fans. We were the fans that had the blog dedicated to them on tumblr, the ones that had their posters covering every inch of our wall, the ones that would hear the word “one” or “direction” and respond quicker than to our own names, and the ones that can’t go thirty minutes without tweeting them and hoping for a follow back. We watched as the boys got called to get into position, picking their correct microphone and doing last minute touchups, and then they ran onto the stage.
