Chapter 20
Part 2
Niall P.O.V
It seemed like right after Christina had gone to fetch her iPod, two figures emerged from the darkness of the woods. Honestly, I was a little freaked out; I had never lived in the woods and spent most of my time in big cities. As embarrassing as it was, part of me was scared of what lurked in the woods at night. My mind quickly shot these ideas down when the figures came closer and I could see their faces in the light from the fire. From the flickering light I could see that it was Harry and Christina’s cousin Nicole. Harry's hair was messier than usual with his clothes hanging off of his body crookedly. I could tell that he had been snogging that girl; I mean who could blame him? She was beautiful and could definitely pass as a model, but the way that he acted around her made me feel like she wasn't just a one night stand. Nicole was standing there rather awkwardly, her hair a little ruffled and her makeup slightly smeared. Harry kept his hand on the small of her back protectively as he continued walking, offering her the seat that was a few feet in front of them. "Where have you guys been?" Louis fished, clearly trying to make both Nicole and Harry uncomfortable. "Lou..." Harry started, his cheeks turning a dark shade of pink, clearly wanting to change subjects. I know Christina was worried about Nicole so I decided to just run in and tell her that she was back.
I walked through her garage into her house, merely tripping over the two steps in the dark. "Shit." I mumbled under my breath as my head smacked into the door as I tripped. I rubbed my head as I walked in, being greeted by a tired Kayla. She put her ears back as I bent down to scoop her up, taking her with me to find Christina. "Chris?" I asked, scanning the rooms downstairs. She had been in the house for a while so I thought she would have been downstairs by now. Noticing she wasn't down stairs I put Kayla back down and jogged up the stairs, two at a time. I was about to walk into her room when I heard her lightly strumming her guitar. I poked my head in, leaning on the door frame as I watched the look of concentration and passion be portrayed on her face. She hadn't noticed me, so I continued to stand there, listening to the lyrics as she sang. She had told me she wasn't that good at playing her guitar, but you couldn't tell based on how she expertly plucked the strings. It wasn't until the chorus that I finally understood what her song was about; it was her own song. She had written a song about her brother. I listened as she had her voice change pitches, as she sang the different verses about how she felt replaced by her brother's girlfriend. It wasn't until she played the final chord for me to fully grasp the emotions she felt. I shifted my weight from my left foot to my right, which must have made Christina hear me. She quickly looked up from her guitar, causing her to play a random string, making her blush. I gave her a warm smile as I walked into her room and joined her on the bed. It was weird how comfortable I felt with her, yet I still had nerves making me not want to say something stupid and embarrass myself. "That was amazing." I said, looking into her eyes. With this she blushed, looking down as she watched as she played with her hands. I hadn't known anyone that actually smiled at the ground until I met her. I wanted to look into her eyes, tell her how I really felt. I wanted to tell her that at this rate, I didn't like her- I needed her. I wanted her and I was scared she didn't want me. I wanted to tell her how I felt, but I didn't know how. Usually I could manage girls; after all, they were mostly the ones that came onto me. But Christina presented a different challenge, making herself hard to get, yet completely available. Finally I couldn't stand looking at her perfect features any longer. I took two fingers of my right hand and placed them under her chin, causing her to let out a small smile and blush profusely. I didn't know what to do, let alone what to say. We stared into each other's eyes as I finally let my instincts kick in. I let my lips crash against hers, feeling her become startled at first but quickly move her lips with mine. I moved my hand to her cheek as our lips moved in perfect sync. My heart beat began to quicken as I leaned closer to her, momentarily moving my hand from her cheek to her waist as I pushed her against the headboard of her bed. "Niall, the guitar." She said while coming up for air. I smiled into the kiss as I used my left hand to put the guitar on the ground. Was the guitar really the only thing she could think about right now? She moved her hands to my hair, as I kept my hands on her waist, my tongue asking for entrance into her mouth. She kept her mouth closed as I pulled away, able to tell that she didn't want to go any further. "That was our first kiss." I thought, not realizing that I had said it out loud. I looked up into her beautiful eyes that were now open, a smile playing on her face. "I guess it was." She said, as I pressed my lips against her forehead. She took my hand in hers as she stood up. "We better get back down before the boys start wondering where we are." I smiled up at her, as I saw a genuine smile fall upon her face, showing me that she needed me to.
