You told me I was perfection
After I claimed you to be great
And I hardly think "great" is enough
So let's start with a clean slate
My better word than "perfection"
While many think it's the opposite
My perfect word is "imperfection"
And now I'll explain just why
You're imperfect; you have faults
And I love you for all of them
Your faults, your quirks -- they make you, you
And that's why I just had to write this poem
Whether it were in prose
Or whether the poem rhymed,
I simply had to write it
For that's how my perfect word -- "imperfect" -- is primed
You're perfectly imperfect,
That's certainly true;
You're perfectly imperfect,
And that's why I love you
