"Venus!"

I open my eyes to a bright room and wince at the sunlight.

"Honey get up, it's your first day of school." My mum leans over me opening my eyes with her fingers.

I look into her deep brown eyes to see the red reflection of my own. I'm thirsty. I push my mum away from my face and rub my eyes. My mum passes me a glass of water and a tablet. I take them from her and drop the tablet in the glass, I watch as the water turns to red. I drink the red liquid and look into the mirror facing my bed, purple eyes.

"Good morning sunshine." Mum says in a chipper voice.

"Why doesn't this school have night classes." I ask my mum.

"Not everyone going to this school is nocturnal sweetie. We can still survive in sunlight you'll be fine." She says as she closes the door behind her after leaving my room.

I get out of bed and walk into the bathroom thats connected to my room. I look into the mirror starring at my purple eyes before putting my contacts on, brown. My coloured contacts matched my long brown hair giving myself the same bland appearance as the rest of my family. Most pure blooded vampire families have beautiful features, bright blue or green eyes, jet black hair or long flowing golden locks. However the Darling clan always had bland appearances, it was one of the reasons we were able to stay hidden among the supernatural society. My parents had been putting my contacts in my eyes since I was a child, us three are the only ones that know about my purple eyes and we still don't know why I was born with them.

With my contacts on I put on black tights to cover my pale legs and a bright red skirt with a black and white blouse tucked into my skirt, I finished the look with tan boots. I didn't style my hair, it was too long and made styling hard so I simply threw it up into a high pony and let my baby hairs run wild.

I leave my room to say goodbye to my parents before I left for school only to find them on top of each other in the living room.

"Seriously guys, just because you will stay young forever doesn't mean you need to show your youth to me every morning," I say rolling my eyes, "I'm going to school now so don't mind me."

One of the positive things about being a vampire is we have many different possible ways to travel, obviously the inhuman speed, the ability to turn into a bat, that's always fun and theres also my clans ability, its similar to transportation but isn't at the same time. I guess it could be considered light speed or something of the sort. We basically need to imagine the place we want to travel to then poof we appear there. Due to never attending human school my parents have spent countless hours training me in our clans special powers. So this is one of the clans abilities I was able to master.

I imagine a back alley three blocks away from the academy and poof I'm there. Due to having to hide my families identity I can't reveal any of our clans special abilities while I'm at the school. Lucky for me though the academy is located in an abandoned town which means us monsters can appear in our natural forms and use any powers we want. So it doesn't take me long to get to the campus with my speed, which I also had to downplay. Any abilities I use need to be downplayed because for some stupid reason my family stays hidden among the shadows of the supernatural world.

After arriving at the schools gates I decide to walk, I'm surrounded by monsters of all kind. Some with horns, some with tails, some with lots of hair. As I approached the main building a girl with white hair, fox ears and nine tails strikes up a conversation with me. A ninetail fox.

"Good morning, welcome to Monster Academy. I'm part of the student council here if you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask." Her smile stretches from ear to ear and a few of her tails sway from side to side.
