Our abilities class begins with our teacher judging our potential and choosing what he wishes us to work on, he put students in pairs so he was able to rank everyone fairly. This meant we got paired into species, that's right I got paired with Elios the blind bat. A smile never left that boys face as we sprinted laps, which he won, as we demonstrated external powers.

Vampires all have unique powers, the pure blooded however have an abundance compared to normal vampires who can only have one specific ability. Elios in particular had amazing reflexes, don't ask me why, I was shocked too, as well as an ability to create ice. The Presley clan are known for their control over elements with some of them being able to control more then one. Elios still had much to develop as his ice ability was impressive while his water manipulation was lacking.

When it came to my turn to demonstrate an ability I had to pick something that wouldn't make me stand out, blood manipulation. It was a fairly common ability to be able to control ones own blood, however my clan can control others as well.

I used a fang to prick my finger letting it bleed before drawing the small blood droplet into a long string forming a weapon I could use in battle. The teacher wasn't very impressed by my average skill, thank god for that.

"You really are from a weak clan." Elios says looking at the blood coming from my finger.

"Sure am." I lick my finger, drinking the blood and sealing the wound I had created.

I managed to down play my abilities in a believable manner and I hoped this meant that Elios would believe what I told him before and would leave me alone. Maybe I was being too optimistic.

Elios followed me back to the bleachers as we watched all the other monsters compete for a high position on the score board the teacher was creating. It was no surprise that Elios was currently on top, while his ability needed work the teacher knew the potential he possessed and so did I. I have to make sure he never finds out the true power I possess not only for my sake but for my clans. Though I couldn't stop thinking about what he told me before, about soul sharing. I couldn't understand why my parents never told me about it.

My grandparents are both dead due to them becoming bored of their long lives, this was very common among vampires. The only members left of my clan is my family, my parents older brother and also their two cousins, who like my parents are siblings and are now expecting their first child. In the last few thousand years we have lost many of our clan my grandparents weren't siblings but they had many themselves. I couldn't even tell you how old they were, all I know is that their siblings were hunted by their own kind for being too strong. This was the main reason why our clan went into hiding and why I know have to hide my powers.

"nus. Venus!" I turn to see Elios smiling at me.

"What?" I ask

"The class is over. Let's go to the cafeteria." He stands up waiting for me to follow his lead.

I reluctantly get up and follow him towards the cafeteria. He leads me towards a table. He takes a seat and I leave a space between us and sit down.

"So this is basically the resident vampire table. Most of us stick with our kind so it's best if you eat with us." He says.

"I think you royals would probably prefer not to be involved with a nobody like me."

"Nah, you're fine" He gestures someone towards the table.

I look towards a girl with beautiful long orange hair and deep brown eyes. She's from the Hearth family, known for the orange hair and their ability to control fire and other monsters with their minds. She smiles at Elios and her fangs are on display, her expressions were bubbly and made me smile a little.

"Morning Elios." She says still smiling.

"Good Morning Amber, this is Venus she's from my class." He gestures towards me.

I smile at the girl and go back to minding my own business as they continue to talk to each other. They had been talking for a few minutes before I felt an ominous presence near by. I immediately look around to see who this power was coming from. That's when my eyes lock with a tall man, his eyes are red, no brown, no a dark maroon. His hair is a beautiful jet black, styled in a way that would make any girl swoon. I stare into his eyes as he stares into mine, he smirks towards me and my heart clenches in my chest. He walks towards the table and in a second is directly in-front of me. His hand slides across my cheek as he cups it in his hands, he continues to look into my eyes. My heart continues to race in my chest and his eyes never leave mine.

"Hey there red." He says, making my heart clench again.

"Red?" I question.

"Your eyes." He smirks towards me.

I pull my head from his hand as I realise the intense dryness in my throat. I look down at my legs as I grasp my throat with a hand. I fiddle through my skirt pocket for my blood tablets, I grab two and put them straight into my mouth.

"Brother, what are you doing?" Elios asks the man standing in-front of me.

"Just having some fun," he chuckles before turning his attention towards me, "the names Hunter."

My thirst continued to persist, I pushed past Hunter and ran towards a unisex bathroom closing the door behind me. I look into the mirror and I'm greeted by red eyes. The irritation of my contacts weren't helping me so I quickly took them out and placed them on a paper towel next to the sink. My eyes still haven't turned back and my thirst only continued to grow. I fell back onto the wall and slid to the ground grasping my throat with my hand.

The door to the bathroom swung open and as I turned to see who was at the door I was instantly greeted with the same maroon eyes I saw only a few minutes ago. He closes the door behind me and crouches down in front of me.

"GO AWAY!"

"Are you sure? You look like you're in a lot of pain." He places a hand on my chin pulling my face towards his.

I place a hand on his chest pushing him back, "I can't control myself right now and I can't promise I won't do anything."

"Trust me you can't hurt me, plus I know you felt the same thing I did back there."

"Please just leave."

"The only thing that'll help your thirst right now is drinking real blood, tablets won't work." He moved his wrist towards me. "Just take as much as you want, it'll make you feel better."

"What are you talking about, you're a royal I can't drink your blood."

He chuckles, "if you won't take it then i'll just have to give it to you."

He opens his mouth showing his fangs as he bites down on his own wrist, he stops and uses a hand to bring my face towards his and places his lips on mine. I push my hand into his chest but he was too strong. The blood from his mouth slowly falls into mine and my thirst is too strong to resist. I swallow the blood he feeds me and it fills my body with ecstasy, I had only ever had blood tablets and this was my first time drinking blood from another person. I had never tasted such bliss in my life and I craved more, however I knew I had to stop before the smell of blood filled the academy's grounds. I finish the last of his blood and he pulls away from my lips.

"Why would you do that?" his hand whips the blood from my lips.

"You're my destined mate."
