Naina turned to look at him. A long moment passed and she turned away from him to look out ahead. Then she spoke softly, "Fairy tale love happens once in a lifetime, Dev and she has already experienced it. What makes you sure she has or wants to leave that behind? " she said.

Another moment passed and the words sank in, causing Dev to turn to her sharply. He opened his mouth, as if ask something and then stopped himself, turned his attention back to the road. Some things were better left unexplored.

Silence reigned in the car for the rest of the trip. Dev was still thinking over what Naina had said and Naina knew that he had to sort it out himself, she would not interfere. Opening the door of their penthouse suite, which was permanently booked in Dev's name, he stepped into the serene interiors and heaved a sigh of relief. It was good to be back home. He did think of this as home now, he realized with a start, suddenly reminded of Sona's question.

Naina followed him in, still quiet, very aware that he was, right now, sorting through questions that had been raked up by Sona's presence, perhaps by her directly too. Dev's silence was not new to her; she had experienced plenty such silent phases over the past few years, when he would close himself out from everyone, including her and try to figure things out in his head.

He was a private person and Naina respected that. He knew that when he needed her, she would be right there by his side and this was enough for her, the knowledge that he knew he could lean on her shoulder. She also knew that when he was in one of these moods, he wanted to be left alone largely and so she just dropped her purse and keys on the table and walked further inside to take a shower.

15 minutes later, when she walked out wearing well worn, ragged shorts and one of his button down shirts, she found him sitting on the sofa, his head in his hands, still in his formals. Obviously he had been sitting right there ever since they had gotten in.

She sat down next to him, put an arm around his shoulders and tugged him closer. He turned quickly, latched on to her with both arms, his head buried in the crook of her neck. Naina shifted position so that she now had one hand on his head, gently running through his hair while the other slowly caressed his back in soothing circles.

She had missed him dreadfully, she had missed the explosive physical equation they shared and there was no question that the only thing she wanted right now was to launch herself at him, kiss him senseless and satiate the deep seated longing that seared her insides something fierce. But she held back. He would oblige if she made her desire known, she knew that, but that was the last thing he needed or desired now. And she was prepared to wait. And so she sat there, letting him find solace in her protective embrace.

Nearly 10 minutes later, he pulled away, turning his face away from her as he did so. Naina latched on to the lapels of his business suit and pulled him back none too gently. She was a strong woman and it wasn't easy to pull out of her grip. Turning him back to face her, she grabbed hold of his face and then, deliberately, she gave in to her heart for just a brief few moments, her lips homing in on his aggressively.

He was not taken by surprise particularly and neither was she when he let her take the lead, responding to her but not equalling her aggression. She broke off the contact when she needed to come up for air and they sat there, with her forehead resting on his shoulder, her hands still clutching his lapels, his hand caressing the back of her head now.
