It’s snowing today. First snow of the season.
Snow.
Snowflake.
My name is Dewey but you named me Snowflake.
Remember those evenings when we used to have Harry Potter marathons with your favourite peppered barbecue chicken pizza and butterscotch ice-cream?
You hated chocolate flavoured ones.
You were weird.
One familiar evening, we were watching Goblet of Fire and out of the blue, you half-screamed ‘you know’.
I almost jumped and slipped the bucket of ice-cream from my hands.
You told me Dewey didn’t fit my personality, I was more like a snowflake. Unique, different, strong and beautiful.
A part of me was actually jumping on the inside.
Snowflake is not a name, I argued.
Well, it should be, was your remarkably intelligent point.
From that day on you never called me Dewey, even when you left me forever.
Do you even remember a Dewey?
I don’t want you to.
Just never forget snowflake.
Yours,
Snowflake.
