Dear Wan Wan,

I am so happy today.

We are finally buying a house here in Texas. Mom has been smiling non-stop since she got the news. Honestly, so have I.

It’s not huge but it’s beautiful.

I have a home, Wan Wan.

We used to live in a rented apartment that time. The rent was too much for us to pay. You knew we were having a financial crisis and you wanted to help but you had your own issues.

Mom had already told me we have to move. I thought she was gonna wait till I graduated.

I couldn’t force herself to stay. I, too, was tired of the warning notices stuck on our door every other day.

I came to my room and did what I always did.

Buried myself in the pillow and cried.

I wasn’t scared of the new place, new school.

No.

I was terified that I have to do it all without you.

But I didn’t tell you this. I couldn’t hurt you. I was fully aware of how you’ll react so I decided not to tell you.

Until the day I would pack the last of my things and leave.

Yours,
Snowflake.
