You had never been more worried in your entire life.
A few days ago, after your short lived fantasy with George in the Hospital Wing, you though it best to fess up to your cousin, Marcus Flint, by sending him an owl telling him all about your love for the Weasley boy and what happened after the Quidditch match. It was better he find out from you than hearing it through rumors, seeing as no doubt Fred Weasley would tell every living person he came to...right?
You weren't so sure anymore that the choice you made was the better one though as you sat amongst your fellow Slytherins waiting for the post. You had a sinking feeling that you would probably receive a nasty howler from Marcus, and whether Fred had already told half the school already, wouldn't matter, because everyone at Hogwarts would know soon enough.
You look up from your food, untouched, to the familiar rush of hundreds of owls flying into the Great Hall, looking desperately for your Barn Owl, Orion. Maybe if you got your howler quick, you could rush out of earshot to listen to it?
You spot Orion, and to your surprise, there isn't a red envelope! Thank the heavens! It still couldn't be good though, could it? You confessed your love for a Weasley after all.
Orion perched on your shoulder and you took the small bit of parchment from his mouth, feeding him some of your bacon. Nervously, you open it up to read:Dear (Y/N), I'm coming. - Marcus
P.S. Congrats on the Quidditch Match
This was worse than you could have imagined. Not only was his unenthusiastic congratulations unnerving, your cousin was making his way to the school for a visit for Merlin knows what. You feared for your life. This was surely the end. And no doubt he'd be here soon, because it took Orion a lengthy bit of time to return his answer and Marcus was en route as we speak. Luckily, you had one more class with George before your untimely demise today, Defense Against the Dark Arts. You stood up from your table clutching your letter and hurried to the DADA room early. Hopefully Professor Lupin, your favorite teacher, would be able to calm you down a bit.
Sure enough, Professor Lupin was able to calm your nerves after your vague explanation of your cousin coming to murder you.
"Now (Y/N)...why exactly do you think your cousin is going to be so angry with you again" Lupin asked, concern in his voice.
"Well....you see, I like this boy who....is very different from my family and friends...and Marcus wouldn't really....take a liking to him..." you mutter out trying to not let too much slip. Even though he was a teacher, you knew he was close with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, so no doubt if he discovered your secret crush on George, he would mention it to Ron.
"Ah yes," Lupin said piecing the clues together, "and who exactly would this be that you fancy?"
You felt rather stupid. Of course Lupin would probably already know who it was. After all, he was sure to have seen you sneaking glances at the redhead during classes before. What's left to lose?
"G-George Weasley..." you squeak out looking down at your feet rather quickly, a soft pink color coming to your freckled face.
"Well he is quite a catch, isn't he?" Lupin said with a laugh, "also, I don't think you'll have much to worry about. Sometimes our friends and relatives can surprise us."
Lupin gave you some chocolate then had you leave his office, just in time for the class to begin. What Lupin talked about that class, you'll never know. Your gaze was fixed upon George the entire time, longing to sit next to him and laugh with him, as he did with his brother. George's orange hair was so beautiful and looked so soft, you just wanted to run your fingers through it. His smile so sweet, you wanted to be the reason for it being there, and was that a dimple? You were dead. His honey brown eyes are what got you the most though. So sweet. So caring. So totally looking directly into your (E/C) eyes right now. You snapped out of your trance and noticed that the twins had turned around in their seats to ask you a question about whatever it was you were learning that day.
"O-oh uhm," you start flipping through your book looking for the chapter on Werewolves and explain to them about the dangers of Werewolves.
"Hey thanks (Y/N)!" George said to you excitedly "no way I could have understood it without your help." He smiled warmly at you before turning around.
He had to be joking, right? He wasn't dumb after all. That didn't matter too much though. He actually talked to you. And smiled at you! George Weasley smiled at you! Your heart was a flutter, as the class was dismissed and you shuffled out of the room after everyone.
You had a free period next so at least you could let your last happy memory sink in before you were strangled to death by your cousin. You headed out to the Black Lake and sat down on the grass, gazing across the glistening water.—————–
"I'll kill them, I swear I'll kill them where they stand." Marcus kept muttering to himself as he stormed through the school, heading for the Potions room.
It hadn't been long since he arrived, and the first thing he wanted to do was kill Fred and George Weasley for embarrassing you and breaking your heart. He honestly didn't care that you had a crush on George, as a matter of fact, he was quite content. Of all the Weasley's, he was proud you picked one of the only mischievous ones. One of the only two that could have seriously been Slytherins themselves had they NOT been Weasleys. But nevertheless, he'd kill them first, then find you and have to apologize for killing your love.Marcus burst through the Potion Room's doors and glared upon the astonished faces of Snape, the Gryffindors, and the Ravenclaws whose attention was taken from their cauldrons of bubbling Amortentia.
"Ahh Mr. Flint, I see you have returned." Snape sneered, looking over to Marcus, "and what, might I ask, are you doing here? I believe Miss (Y/L/N) should have a free period now."
"I'm not here for her right now," Marcus told Snape, "I'm here to have a few words with the Weasley twins." His gaze slowly fell upon the redheads, the corner of his lips curling into a smirk
"Ahh very well, take them. They were no doubt trying to make a fool of my lesson anyway." Snape said, allowing Marcus to lead the twins out of the room.
That was the easy part, getting Snape to let Marcus take the Weasleys. He was always one of Snape's more favorite students, and he was sure that Marcus would take care of their attitudes nicely. The hard part was going to be covering up after he was done with them."So Weasleys, I hear you made a fool of my cousin (Y/N), haven't you?" Marcus said, seizing the necks of Fred and George in the corridor outside Snape's room. "What exactly were you planning on next? Pulling cruel pranks on her to make her more upset, no doubt. Lucky enough, I'm here to finish you off before you make any wrong decisions." Marcus began to tighten his grip a little when George spoke up.
"Wait! WAIT! I swear we weren't trying to embarrass her. We haven't told anyone, we swear!"
Marcus let go of their necks to let them speak.
"Then what, might I ask, were you going to do? And how can I believe you?" Marcus wasn't readily convinced that he could trust the Weasley twins, but he had to give it a shot, seeing as your heart belonged to one.George told Marcus everything. Told him about his mutual secret crush on you for the past 5 years, and how he was overly happy to find out you felt the same. How he and his brother were trying to figure out some way to show how he felt so you could be together, and how he'd never want to hurt you. How he'd rather die than hurt you.
Marcus's face curled into a smile, now believing the tale of the horrified twins (they were sure they were dead), and spoke softly.
"Well now that I know, you'll have to let me in on this. After all, I know (Y/N) much better than either of you."
Marcus began to plot with Fred, shoving George aside (he couldn't know about this plan either seeing as it involved him). Your cousin knew that you were sure to fall into the plan with ease. He knew better than anyone, what you wanted and liked, and it made him happy to know that soon you'd be very happy as well. He was determined to get you with George alone, along with the help of George's spritely brother, Fred.—————–
"Hey (Y/N)!" Marcus said, approaching your spot on the ground, you immediately standing up.
"Please Marcus! Don't kill me! I want to live!" You were pleading for your life. But Marcus stopped you by putting his hand on your shoulder.
"(Y/N). I'm not here to kill you for heaven's sake, just calm down." he laughed, "I'm just here to make sure your okay. You seemed pretty shaken up in your letter."
He sat down, pulling you back to your original sitting position.
"Oh thank god," you sighed with relief, "I was sure I was dead when I told you about...well..ya know." You got quiet and averted eye-contact.
"No way! I wouldn't kill you, you're like my little sister!" Marcus said, quickly adding "however I would kill them, no questions asked."
Your eyes flashed up to his face with worry, heart pounding in your chest.
"I'm only joking (Y/N)! Honestly calm down!" He explained, grinning and showing his crooked teeth.
"Tell you what. Maybe this Saturday we can head up to Hogsmeade for a hangout? We haven't bonded for ages it seems, would you like that?" Your cousin asked, waiting for your response.
"Yeah that'd be awesome," you say, "I could really go for a Butterbeer after this week."
