CHAPTER 10- Just friends.

Santana's POV

When Dani and I walked out of the diner after our shift someone squealed and yelled my name, "SANTANA!" I turned just in time to see a whirl of blonde hair before the girl hugged me tightly. Her scent hit me and it clicked, "Brittany!" The girl pulled away and nodded, "Hi!" I gasped, "What are you doing here?!" She smiled, "Well I was in the city, so I decided to visit Rachel and she told me your shift was ending so I decided to come say hi!" Smiling, I hugged her again, "How long are you in New York for?" Brittany shrugged, "As long as I'm welcome." Shaking my head I dropped Dani's hand to take hers, "You're always welcome here." Her eyes flickered to Dani, "Who's this." Suddenly I felt uncomfortable, and I knew Brittany would be hurt if I introduced Dani as my girlfriend. "This is Dani, my.... friend." Brittany smiled brightly at Dani, "Hi, I'm Santana's friend from highschool." I glanced at Dani and saw the hurt in her eyes, "It's nice to meet you Brittany." She said quietly. Brittany was oblivious to Dani's mood change "So what do you say we go to dinner? My treat?" Dani stepped away, "Actually, I have to get home." She turned and walked away but I went after her and grabbed her arm, "Dani wait." She ripped her arms away from me, "It's fine Santana, you two obviously have been friends for a long time." with that, she walked away. Leaving we with a very confused Brittany. "So I guess it's just you and me?" She said awkwardly, obviously wondering about Dani's angry departure. "Yeah, sure." I said weakly, what the hell did I just do?"

Brittany and I ended up going back to the diner for dinner, We were just on dessert when the door opened and the bells tinkled. Looking up, I gulped. It was Dani. she had tear tracks running down her cheeks from red-rimmed eyes. I watched as she walked thought the diner and took her paycheck from Gunther. When she turned around her body tensed and she stopped walking. "Hi Dani!" Brittany said, "Care to join us?" I watched her carefully as she didn't make eye contact with me. "I don't want to intrude. Besides, I need to get home." Brittany nodded and Dani walked out. "I'll be right back." I muttered, and ran after her.

"Dani! Wait please!" Finally, she turned around. "what Santana?!" I came close to her and blanched. I had no explanation for what I'd done. "I'm sorry." She snorted, "Save it. I mean, we are just friends right?" I ran a hand through my hair, "No. You're my girlfriend." she cocked an eyebrow, "Really? Why don't you go tell Brittany that?" I fell silent, "San." Looking up, I jumped as her face was inches from mine, her brown eyes searching my face. "Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't have feelings for her, and this will all go away." I looked deep into her eyes, "I can't."
