Who could have known that refusing to eat his vegetables would turn out to have such disastrous consequences? He just hadn't liked the taste, and for the most unreasonable of kings, that was reason enough to be put on trial for treason. His tendency to be stubborn didn't help in the slightest, but he felt it was difficult to suppress it while eyeing the plate full of asparagus spears. If he ate the entire plate, he wouldn't be sentenced to death. Honestly though, even now the death sentence still seemed slightly more appealing.
