As much as she liked inventing and building things, she highly doubted this was ever going to work. Not that it was the point, but still. The mechanical bird made entirely out of brass looked very elegant, but would almost certainly be too heavy. For some reason it comforted her, making something so beautiful that would never take to the skies. After the person most dear to her in the whole wide world died in a plane crash, she just needed to know that not every lovely thing would befall that same cruel fate.
