Free Fall

Goodbye.
I give up-
Trying to catch every ledge,
Clinging on,
Digging my fingernails
Into the cliff that is you.

No longer will I grit my teeth
As my nails bleed out
And arms grow heavy;
Weak,
Foolishly hoping
That you'll drop me a rope.

Even if
Everything I am without you
Is but the smallest of parachutes
Weightless
Flimsy
Torn

I'll take my chances with free fall.
