"What did you say?" She asked, her voice on the edge if breaking into a million pieces. She looked at me with disbelief. Her black eye told me she was not expecting this. Her black hair told me she backed away hastily, flinging behind her. Her hands told me she was helpless in the situation, hanging at her sides, immobile.
"I said I'm a vampire, a creature of the night, a child of the devil..." I trailed off, my eyes searched her for any emotion.
"I knew it!" She yelled, starling me and making me jump back.
"Wait, whaaa?" I asked.
She walked towards me with a sure stride, fangs sliding out of their shells. I let mine slide out as well.
"You're a vampire?!" I was stunned, I had meant to tell a human that I was a vampire because I loved her. She was mine, and I was hers, but even so; I never expected this.
"I am!" She said her eye filling with tears, her hands reaching to grab mine. She grabbed them and intertwined her fingers with mine.
"I guess we both got a shock today." She said with that sweet accent if hers, then I stared at the left side of her face, where her long black bangs always covered her left eye. A skinny black strap made its way from behind her hair an into a tie in the back in her head. It had always been there. I had never asked about it. I never thought about it, but now, I know she is a vampire. And all of the other vampires I have ever known, have all been flawless. No scars or cuts or imperfections. She always covered one eye though. Why?
"My eye. Is that what you want to know about?" She asked, a bit of a smirk on her face.
"Uh, yea, I mean, no, I mean..." I stammered.
She threw her hair to the side and revealed an eye patch like the kind pirates wore. She reached up and grabbed the eye patch and pulled it. The tie undid itself from the back and when it was free of her head, she let go of it an it fluttered to the ground. When I looked at her eye it was shut. But as she opened it I saw that her eye was not black as her other eye but an iridescent purple. I was confused. What does this mean?
"Some scars can't be erased, no matter what you are." And then she shut her eye once more. But this time both shut and she collapsed into me.
"Sinnia! Are you ok?" I asked, as I caught her. But as I stared down her back, a knife, transparent, stuck out of her head, covered in blood. Her blood. She was breathing fine. On the transparent blade was the words:
Sinnia Black: Cause Of Death By Samuel Black's Treacherous Sins.
Sinnia gasped for air and the knife dissolved. She stood up and felt her head where the knife had been. I looked at her and then thought of the name. Samuel Black. Every vampire is a soul that had died before the purpose in his/her life was fulfilled. Why did Sinnia die in the first place? And what does Samuel Black have to do with it?
"Elias? What happened?" She asked rubbing her chest.
"How did you die?" I blurted, feeling guilty about it the second it came out of my mouth.
She seemed stunned, but then her black eye went foggy and I was getting ready to catch her again, "I don't know."
I stared at her and then I saw her purple eye was tearing up. She blinked. A single tear fell to the ground. As it struck the ground it sizzled and burned a small hole in the solid asphalt. Acid tears, I thought, stunned. She cries acid tears. She looked at me with sadness. Who are - Who were you? And why did you die?
