The car ride was silent as I mulled over the fact that I was a vampire. Julius went over the facts with me. My name was Sinnia Black. I was in 10th grade, Class 13-F, at Treach's Academy. I had fallen off the roof of a museum while we were looking at exhibits. I had a small concussion for a month, and am now coming back to school on November 13th.
I had no family and was accepted into Treach's Academy because of my amazing marks in math and literature. I don't remember any of the time at the school or most of the things before it.
"The important thing is to pretend that you understand this world and the technology in it." Before I could protest that most of this stuff was impossible, he held up a beefy hand. "I will accompany you to your classes for the first week you are here. I will tell you all of the up-to-date references to everything, so frankly, people wont think you are from another time period." He smirks. "Starting with this..." He pulls at his black trousers," These are called pants, not trousers. Or more specifically, jeans."
He bangs on the door with the side of his arm and a small hole appears in the black glass in between us and the front of the carriage. The hole was rectangular and big enough for a skinny person to fit through. A small box is slipped through. He hands the box to me. I cautiously grab it from his hands.
"This holds most of what you will need here at Treach's Academy. You have a uniform, your meal card, school ID, and three extra eye patches. You are going to need to keep the eye patch on, and you can cover it with you hair if you feel like you want to be normal, but never, I repeat, never let any student here know you have an eye like that, or that you are a vampire." His eyes bored into me, and his gaze held no humor. I nodded. The carriage lurched to the side as we turned a corner.
Julius smirked once again."And this is called a car, not a carriage." He undid the restraint and his as well. He looked at me, "Pretend you are moderately affiliated with this place. You don't have to talk or wave, but there will be people staring. There have been rumors about you going around. But once we get inside the doors of the school, we will be away from all of that." He grabbed the box from me.
I nodded. I had no idea what to expect. From what Julius explained, all I could think of were vicious aliens, unlike any possible living thing I had ever seen. He walked gracefully out of the carria--car, and I followed in suit. The orange glow of the sun settled over the white plaster walls of the school, and the black roof glittered in the sun. I could see windows scattered around the walls, and guessed that the school was three or four levels. The large black door loomed over the entire courtyard. The courtyard was huge, and fulled with milling... teenagers.
There were trees shading benches, and a cobble path led from the entrance, where me and Julius were to the front door and branching out to several points in the distance. The grass was a vibrant green, battling with the orange of the sun.
Julius whispered, "Just follow me, and you don't even need to look at anyone."
I nodded, even though he had already turned and started at a slow pace. I stared right at the back of Julius and I thought I saw him shiver. Am I that scary? I think.
As we were walking down the path, I let my eyes wander the slightest bit. Julius did say I was to spend a long time in this world, even though I'm not affiliated with it. When my gaze had settled on a boy, not ten feet away from me, my body stopped moving. I stared into his dark green eyes, framed by long brownish hair that glinted maroon in the sun.
Suddenly, the bursts of emotion that I should have been feeling in the car flooded me while i was staring into the endless green of his eyes. He was staring right back. Confusion. Loneliness. Nervousness. Sadness.
When Julius grabbed my hand with his firm one, it seemed to smack me out of the trance. I walked next to him, his hand clenched tightly around my wrist.
I started to turn back to look at him, but a sound interrupted my action. It sounded like the beat of a bass drum. Then another. Another. There started out as a single beat, repeating. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. But another rhythm joined the first. Then another. Another. Soon my head was pounding a million different beats.
I wanted to scream. I could see only darkness. I could only feel the pain of Julius's hand tight on my wrist. I brought my hands up to my ears. I could feel sharp teeth protruding from my mouth. My throat was dry. The pounding got louder. I couldn't take it, I hadn't known it, but I had still been walking. I started to collapse.
Julius's deep voice barely cut through the thunder. "Only up the steps, Sinnia. You can do it. The first time is the hardest."
Then the slam of a large door, echoing throughout the silence in my head. I dropped to the cold floor. On my knees, I shakily took my hands away from my ears. I was hoping they weren't covered in blood. They were.
My head was exploding. I just sit there, until the echos were gone, only my heavy breathing filling the cold air.
I speak for the first time, after waking up. "W...What was that?" My voice was barely a raspy whisper, but I knew Julius heard it.
"Hearts." I looked up at him, and he was extending his hand. I take it with my bloody hand and he pulls me to my feet. Surprisingly, I was stable. "You're a vampire, and this is the first time you have been around any humans other than me and the driver. The amount of blood pumping through their veins was amazingly powerful to you." He stared at me. I stared back, holding my hands away from me while blood dried on them. As if reading my mind, Julius said, "We should get you cleaned up. And into your uniform. Then you can meet with the Master." He handed me the box, and I took it more surely this time than in the car.
He nodded, a look of approval in his eyes, and then he turned, and headed to the stairwell at the end of the hall. His footsteps echoed through the halls like solid beats of a human heart.
I know this isnt the most popular piece, but if anyone reading this wants to comment the next POV (point of veiw) I would be happy to oblige and write it for them.
I can do a point of veiw for Elias or Sinnia. And if I get one or two votes, I might just do one for Julius.
Well, If I may quote the Hunger Games, "Let the Comments (games) begin!"
