Patton skipped into school, a huge smile on his face. Which probably made him stand out from the crowd, considering everyone else looked pretty miserable, but he didn't mind that much. Somebody had to spread the cheer around this place!

He figured that he would spend the morning looking around for any of the cast to spread messages and such. He wanted to let them know what he had planned for next rehearsal (which would take place after school) and also wanted to see if they would all sit together for lunch. He wanted his cast to feel like a family, because in a sense they were. They would be spending a lot of time together, doing things that they wouldn't usually be doing, so Patton thought it would be nice if they all got to know each other. He had decided that the best place for them all to eat together would be the little, hidden garden where Logan and Virgil usually sat. It seemed like only those two sat there, and it was a pretty closed off area, which Patton thought would be perfect for the group.

Patton glanced around the halls, and spotted one of the cast member - the girl who played Jula, Fae. She was standing in a group with her friends, none of which Patton recognised.

"Hey, Fae!" he shouted.

All of the girls turned to look at him.

"Who's this weirdo?" one of them asked.

Fae smiled. "He's the director of the school musical."

"Oh," the other girl replied, "right."

The group went back to their conversation, whilst Fae came out to talk to Patton. They moved a couple feet away.

"So, I was gonna see if you and the rest of the cast wanted to sit with me, Verge, and Lo at lunch. We found this nice spot behind the school, there's like the garden-y place, and I thought I'd be cool if the cast got to know each other and stuff, and-"

"You want me to spread the word?" Fae guessed.

Patton's face lit up. "So you do want to sit with us?"

"I mean, why not?" She smiled. "I'll help you let the others know. Have you told anyone else?"

"No. You're the first person I've seen. Although Virgil and Logan will already be sitting there," he informed her.

She nodded. "Got it. If I see anyone, I tell them to spread the word."

She returned to her group of friends, and Patton continued walking down the hallway. One done, a bunch more to go.

He didn't see anyone else on his way to the library. Since school didn't actually start for another half an hour or so, that would make sense. Most the cast probably hadn't even arrived yet. However, he was almost certain that Logan would be there, his face buried in some book about astrology or whatever he was into nowadays.

Just like he thought, Logan was sat by the window of the library, a book about space open in front of him. A cup of tea was sitting on the window still besides him. Patton quickly looked around - nobody else was in the library, not even the librarian, meaning he would be able to talk as loudly as he wanted. If there was no one to disturb, then there was no one to tell him off.

"Hey, Logan!" Patton approached his friend with a huge smile across his face. "Mind if I sit here?"

Logan looked up from his book, a straight expression on his face. "Is there anything stopping you from sitting there?"

"Well, I didn't want to disturb you if you wanted to sit alone," Patton said.

"Patton, we are, as one would say, 'friends', are we not?"

Patton gasped, delighted. "Aw, we're friends?"

"Well, yes, I suppose so. You come here mostly every day to sit with me, despite not getting any books to read for yourself, so I presumed you were coming in order to be in my company," Logan explained, "as 'friends' would typically do."

Patton grinned, and sat down opposite to Logan. He was glad that Logan thought that way about him - that was all that Patton wanted. Logan was such an amazing guy, and to be considered his friend? That fact somehow made him even happier that usual.

"Although, I do find it strange that you prefer to be in my company rather than what I would guess is a large group of friend that you have had for longer," Logan admitted. There was a pause, before Logan added, "You do have other friends, right?"

Patton shrugged. "I mean, none that I hang out with an awful lot. I'm mostly just friends with the theatre folk. Kinda."

Logan frowned. "Really? That surprises me. You are such a social person that I thought it would be no trouble for you to make friends."

"People find my optimism to be too annoying," Patton stated.

Logan looked at Patton. "Oh."

Patton smiled. "But that's fine! I'm not gonna stop being happy just because people don't like it."

Logan hummed. "I think all of those people who turn you down for your optimism are missing out. It's good to have a source of positivity. Or, at least, that's what I've read."

"A-anyway," Patton said, suddenly changing the conversation at hand, "I was actually gonna ask if you'd be ok with some of the cast members to sit with us at lunch."

"Us?"

"As in, me, you and Virgil," he clarified. "I was thinking we could all sit in that garden place you found. I've, uh, already let some of the others know, so..."

"I see no issues with it," Logan said.

"Awesome!"
