Me: is trying to get my ish together long enough to write a chapter for y'all.
Life: decides that they'd rather leave me in an anxious, ball of confusion.

"Hold him back! Jesus Christ someone grab him!" Aro yelled.

The throne room erupted in vampiric chaos. A growling and snarling Caius was being held back by Demitri, while Felix was pushed behind Heidi, Jane, and Alec. Caius bared his teeth at the brute, completely disregarding his mates pleas to, and I quote, "calm the hell down, Caius. There are worse things!".

The blonde queen planted herself before her vicious mate; a move she knew was dangerous. She blocked his line of sight, attempting to take his mind off the man he thought was going to take his new daughter away. Caius's body shook in anger, mainly from the threat of Felix taking her away, but also betrayal. He felt that Felix had betrayed him. Caius wasn't very close with any of the guards, but he liked Felix well enough. Which by Caius's standards meant a Hell whole of a lot.

In the very back of his, as well as everyone's mind, it was alarming how attached he had grown to the little girl. He had never cared for any human up until this point. To him, humans were simply a meal. The scum of the earth.

He had only met her less than 24 hours ago, and yet he felt like he had raised Carter her whole life. If you asked Marcus, he'd tell you that the dark green bond had grown a little stronger since this morning. The long vine that stretched from Caius and Athena ran through the throne room and down the corridor, presumably to Caius's room. The vine was now a pulsing green. Once thin, now slightly thicker with more leafs. Never before had marcus seen a bond of this structure. But if he had to, he could probably give a pretty good explanation of what this particular bond meant.

"Love, look at me. Focus on me." Athena moved her right, manicured hand to his icy cheek, forcing their crimson eyes to meet. Demitri had the king's arms secured tightly behind his back. The slightest move or tug would crack the porcelain skin at the shoulders.

"I don't like what's going on either darling, but there are so many benefits to this." She said while stroking his smooth cheek. Caius snarled once more. He kept trying to see past his wife. But behind her stood many other guards that still blocked his sight.

"Amore, listen to me. This is a good thing." She insisted.

"A good thing?" His words were soaked in sarcastic venom. "I- we just got her! Now he wants to take her from us!" He roared, almost loud enough for the rafters to shake.

"I have no intention of taking her from you, Master Caius. My only concerns are her safety and happiness, as are yours for Athena." Felix spoke up, inwardly embarrassed to be hiding behind a pair of twins that were half his size. "And the way I see it, if I was to take her somewhere, it would be the safest place on Earth. As far as I know, that place is here, in this castle. I don't wish to make an enemy out of this coven. It would be my downfall."

With an angry scowl still plastered on his face, the king calmly requested that Demitri let go of him. Demitri did as told, hoping his master wouldn't kill one of his closest friends. Once released, Caius straightened out his black Armani suit.

Oh, was Felix in for it.

The king circled the gaurd like a lion would it's prey. Alec and Jane slowly backed away from the two, deciding it would be best to stay out of the lion's way. Even if Caius did make an attempt on Felix's life, Jane, or Alec, could put a quick stop to it.

"I won't kill you. Not today." He decided. "But, make one wrong move, and I will tear your head clean from your shoulders. If you force yourself upon her, you will meet a gruesomely painful end- one of which you couldn't even imagine. If she complains, or even seems uncomfortable in your presence, you're a dead man." Caius threatened, stopping to stand in front of him.
