Lani'sP.O.V.
"Lani!" I mentally groan when I hear my brothers voice resonate up the stairs. I wanted to sleep in and somehow mute the headache that had formed from my night of drinking with friends. If Chris ever found out then he would kill me.
By the way my brother is Chris Hemsworth. Yes, you heard correctly. I'm related to the God of Thunder himself. I live with him and his wife Elsa.
Now your probably wondering why is a 28 year old woman living with her brother? Well, here is the answer, he cares about me. Maybe a bit too much.
"Lani! Don't make me come in there." He was now outside my door. I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head when I heard the door open. Before I know it, I'm lying on the floor in a heap of blankets.
"What was that for?" I ask groggily. I peaked out from under the blanket and immediately regretted it. Chris was standing with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face.
"Would you care to explain why there is a guy passed out on my couch?" oops. Well this was going to be fun trying to explain what happened.
"Umm... I-I.... I can explain." I stammer.
"I'm waiting. You went out drinking again didn't you Laylani?" I cringe at the use of my full name.
"And I thought that we agreed never to call me by my full name." I replied getting up off the cold floor and rubbing the back of my head.
"Lani, you promised." I looked at the floor. "Now why is he passed out on my couch?"
"OK so I went out drinking with some friends. Cody walked me home and fell asleep on the couch." I look up at Chris and he is now rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I'm sorry Chris, but you need to learn to loosen up a bit. If it will make you feel better I will go down and tell him to go home."
"Please.... I'll be down in 10 minutes and if he isn't out of my house then I'll kick him out myself." With that he walks out of my room. He really needs to learn to relax. I grabbed a dark green shirt and a pair of black jeans out of my cupboard and got changed before heading down the stairs to the lounge room.
Cody was still asleep on the couch fast asleep and snoring slightly. I walked over and shook him awake. He woke with a start and then looked at me with a sleepy look.
"What.... Where am I?" He looked around obviously trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. I filled him in and told him that he had to leave. He was a bit hungover and didn't understand anything I said, so I helped him out the door and slammed it behind him.
I turned and jumped a little when I saw both Chris and Elsa standing across the room. In the space of a few minutes Chris's demeanor had changed and he now wore a smile on his face. Elsa on the other hand had a huge grin on her face and a cake in her hands. Wait.... what? I looked at them confused and then it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Today was my birthday! I was now officially 29.... wow I got old.
"Happy birthday Lani." They both shouted making me cringe a bit from the hangover I was recovering from.
I managed a smile and walked over to them. First giving Chris a hug and then Elsa who had put the cake down.
"So how does it feel to be a year older?" Elsa asked. I shrugged my shoulders. To be truthfully honest I didn't feel any different.
"Well here is your present from us to you, Lani." Chris replied handing me a envelope. What could possibly be in here?
I open the envelope and widen my eyes as I'm staring at plane tickets. 3 to be exact. I look at Chris who is grinning like the Cheshire cat.
"Thought we could all go on a holiday for a few weeks." I looked at him and then back at the tickets. I noticed the destination. London, England. I was freaking out on the inside. England was the one place I've always wanted to visit.
"You've got to be freaking kidding!" I shouted with maybe a bit too much enthusiasm. Chris just laughed.
"No I'm serious. We catch the plane out tonight and we'll be staying with a good friend of mine."
I am lost for words. In my hand I hold plane tickets to the one place I've always wanted to go. Its a dream come true!Wait did he say we leave tonight?
"I gotta go pack!" with that I run up the stairs taking them 2 at a time. I reach my room and pull out my suitcase and start packing it.
---
Well I'm done. I've managed to pack my suitcase in 3 hours. What, not my fault I had to decide what to bring and let's face it, when you have as much stuff as I do it would take you that long.
"I'm ready." I yell down the stairs as I drag the case behind me. Chris raises an eyebrow.
"Do you seriously need all that?" I shot him a glare and then nodded my head in response. He shrugged his shoulders and took the case out to the car. He and Elsa had already packed and were ready to go.
We drove to the airport and I remembered what Chris had said about staying at a friends place.
"Chris, who is the friend that we're staying with?" I ask, curiosity peeking my interest. He looks at me in the rearview mirror before responding.
"Right, that would have to be-" he was cut off by his phone ringing. I tried to see the caller ID but failed. He answered the phone and put it on speaker. "Chris talking."
"Chris! Have you left yet?" A male voice with a British accent asked over the phone. Chris laughed.
"Not yet, mate. We're on the way to the airport now."
"Right. Just ringing to tell you that the rooms are ready for when you guys get here and I'll be waiting for you guys at the airport. I should be pretty easy to spot." Chris laughs again.
"I'll be sure to look out for the walking tree." The man on the other end let's out a 'ehehe' type laugh.I swear I've heard that voice somewhere. "Gotta go, mate. We're at the airport we'll see you in a few hours."
The man on the other end says goodbye and hangs up as we get into a parking space.
"Who was that? He sounded really familiar" I asked.
"That was my friend that we are staying with. I wouldn't be surprised, he is quite well known." I rolled my eyes, it was probably one of those stuck up, snobby actors.
We got through security and made it to our flights gate. I took a deep breath. I am actually doing it. I'm going to England. No turning back now. I walk up to the ticket person and give them my ticket and then board the plane with Chris and Elsa close behind me.
I took the window seat so that I could watch as we took off. Thoughts of who this mystery friend is ran through my head. I soon brushed them away and smiled. England.... just got to last the flight and we will be in England. I close my eyes and fall asleep as the plane takes off. We're on our way.
