Chapter 12: So, Here's The Plan
"Let's get this party going, eh!" Niall shouted. "Dude, this isn't a party." Zayn lowered the radio volume. "Aww, c'mon, lighten up a little, Zayn!" Liam called back, patting him on the back. "Right." The boys had just welcomed me into Harry's house to meet and chat about me as 'Cora'. Liam was trying to make some micro-waveable popcorn that didn't exactly turn out so well. "Shit, Liam, what did you do?!" Louis laughed, grabbing at the bag that had turned black with smoke. "I dunno, I tried." Liam shrugged. "I could make you guys something, I mean, I kinda owe you all one." I suggested, making my way to the kitchen and opening cabinets. "That'd be awesome, Laila, thanks!" Niall smiled at me. Harry wasn't here, he had went out before I had arrived and hadn't returned yet. As I poured the nachos onto a pan and grated some white & cheddar cheese over top, I added some hot jalapenos and threw it into the oven, wiping my hands clean. The boys had all made their way to the living room. Niall and Liam were on the love seat, Zayn tucked his legs up to his chest on the the single chair and Louis was leaning against the window, watching Harry climb the steps to the front door. "I'll get it." I opened the door to see Harry in a white tee and dark trousers, his hair was wild from the wind, but truthfully, it still looked lovely. "Laila! Your here!" He gleamed at me. "Yeah! I just got in a couple of minutes ago." I smiled back. "Do you need some help?" I asked, glancing at all the bags he was carrying. "Sure, that'd be great." He passed me the lightest one, and kicked the door all the way open.
"Where were you, Hazza?!" Louis exclaimed, looking at all the bags. "Shopping, getting some supplies." "For what?" "For this." Harry opened one of the white plastic bags and pulled out a big white board with dry-erase markers in multiple colours. "What the hell is all this?" Louis laughed, grabbing at the board, chucking it at Liam and flinging the markers at Zayn. "Well, we need a plan and some rules, right?" Harry said, taking my hand and leading me to one of the sofas. Zayn rolled his eyes, annoyed. I shot him a look back. "Oh! The nachos!" I remembered and took them out of the oven, placing them steaming hot on the table in the living room. Niall practically lunged for them. Piling them all into his mouth, he closed his eyes and said "Oh. My. God. This is amazing." I smiled, "Haha, well, I'm glad your enjoying it!" I took my seat next to Harry, confidently. "So, we have to create this 'Cora' girl. What's she like? Where is she from?" Liam thought aloud. "Well, Zayn's already decided she's from Canada, right?" I told Liam, looking at Zayn. "Canada..." Liam repeated slowly, writing it out on the white board. "We need some sort of family history. We gotta have a background." Liam added. "Ouu! Ouu! I know!" Niall raised his hand like a kid in a classroom. "Yeees, Niall?" Louis asked. "Irish! Cora should be Irish! Ya huh." Niall nodded, clearly very happy with his suggestion. "Does Laila look Irish, Niall? Does she have an Irish accent?" Zayn quizzed Niall, giving him a look. "Well, uh no." Niall frowned. Zayn shook his head, sighing. "What do you think of this? Cora from Canada. She grew up in a big city and her parents are from Manchester and they visit here often, since she was a child, that's why she has an accent." Liam responded, looking at everybody's reaction. Everyone seemed to agree, except Harry and Zayn were silent. "We need a last name! We can't just call her Cora from Canada!" Louis chuckled and added "How 'bout... Landins... Cora Landins! Hm?" It sounded fine to me so far. "The thing is Laila, will you be able to play along in public?" Louis asked me with a more serious tone. "I think so, I mean, I'm not a great actor or anything, but I'm sure I could do it." I nodded at everyone. "And Zayn?" Liam flicked his knee. "Of course I can do it. I'll be the best boyfriend you never had, Laila." Zayn smiled smugly at me, making me feel like I wanted to sock him. "Knock it off, Zayn. If you guys are gonna make this work, you gotta actually be nice to each other." Harry told us. "And maybe a little PDA...?" Liam suggested, looking down at his feet. "NO! NO! NO!" "Noooo!" Both Zayn and I protested. There would be no public displays of affection. Any where. At all! "No way, Liam. I'm sorry, but... I'm not exactly single right now." I looked at Harry, hoping for him to back me up, but he stayed silent. "Well, of course not! Your dating me!" Zayn replied to me, standing up to reach for another nacho. He bit into it and I knew that he thought it was delicious, just by his face. "It was just a suggestion..." Liam concluded. "Where are we gonna make this whole shlam-bam public?" Niall questioned us all. "It's gotta be romantic, but not too serious." Louis mentioned. "How 'bout Tatton Park?" Harry suggested. "Ouu, very romantic Hazza, but remember, your not going with her, he is." Louis pointed a finger at Zayn. "I know..." Harry muttered, tugging at his shirt. "Tatton Park is a lovely place." Liam told me, smiling. "I haven't exactly heard of it before." I blushed, embarrassed. "It's a grand, old park full of gardens and old people walking around smelling flowers." Zayn said, shrugging. "Hey, don't bash Tatton Park! It's also the home of one of the seven National Foodies Festivals!" Niall exclaimed, throwing out his hands, as if to say 'DUUH!.' "So, do we have a plan?" Liam asked us all. "I think so." I replied, everyone nodded except for Zayn. We all turned to shoot him glares. "I suppose." He finally said. "Great, so, Laila, meet back here tomorrow around 2:00. We'll get ready and then head off to make it official. Sound good?" Liam explained. I nodded again, a little nervously. "Let's do it."
I stood up to leave with Harry as my escort when Zayn suddenly stopped me. I thought he was going to apologize, say sorry for acting so terribly to me. But instead, the only words that came out of his mouth were...
"Wait, what are you gonna wear?"
"Don't worry, Zayn. I'll find something reasonably fashionable."
"I just don't want to clash with your outfit."
"Of course, you don't."
