I was sat on the sofa in tears looking at the pile of betting slips I'd found hidden in the garage how long had this been going on why was he doing it all sorts of questions running through my head,I heard the front door open and close and wiped away my tears "I'm home Beth" I heard him say his footsteps getting closer I stood up he smiled at me before his eyes fell on coffee table his smile dropped instantly "Beth I can explain" "it doesn't really need explaining does it Ryan you have a problem" I said raising my voice "Beth I don't its just abit of fun" "so you'll be able to stop straight away won't you" I saw the look of hesitation cross his face before he nodded I gave him a small smile before throwing all the betting slips away things were awkward between us for a few days afterwards but we slowly got back to normal,we were due to go out for a meal and drinks and he was running late I tried ringing him and got no answer I tried again a few minutes later and he answer "hey I won't be long" he told me "ok where are you" "erm with Adam" he told me I heard in the background horse racing results "yes" I heard him say he'd obviously got the result he wanted "don't lie Ryan your gambling again" I snapped at him before hanging up I rushed upstairs packing something's I grabbed my phoned and called the one person who'd help me Adam "hey" he answered "Adam" I sobbed "hey Beth what's wrong" he asked sounding worried "it's Ryan he's gambling" "he's what are you sure" "yeh I found betting slips hidden in the garage he said he'd stop but he was late for our date tonight and when I rang him he was in a betting shop" "is he home" "no I'm leaving for a few days" "where you gonna go" he asked me "hotel I guess" "no your not beth come stay with me" "I don't want you caught in the middle ads" "I won't be come stay with me" he begged "ok I'm leaving now" I told him "ok see you soon" I quickly got into my car pulling out of the driveway I don't know how I got to Adams but when i did I collapsed straight into his arms crying he led me into his house helping me sit down on the sofa he just held me my phone started ringing I pulled it out my bag it was Ryan I cancelled the call before turning my phone off "you should talk to him" Adam said "so he can tell me more lies" I snapped Adams phoned started ringing he picked it up and stood up leaving the room I could hear him talking it was obviously Ryan I followed Adam into the kitchen he had his back to me "so it's true fucking hell Ryan why Beth's in bits no I'm not getting involved give her a few days to calm down and sort yourself out mate" I heard him say he ended the call turning back round he gave me a small smile and the tears started again he pulled me into his arms kissing the top of my head
Four months later....
I was still living with Adam I couldn't trust Ryan again we tried I moved back in with him but the constant fear of him gambling again ripped us apart It didn't mean I didn't still love him I did I guess a part of me always would but I had to move on. Adam looked after me so much taking me out for the day,cooking for me and just been there for me he'd been off with me for a few days I felt I'd over stayed my welcome and made plans to move out my cousin had split up with her boyfriend and had offered me her spare room I accepted and started packing I took done bags downstairs putting them by the front door before going back up to carry on packing I heard Adam come home "Beth" he shouted "up here" I shouted back I heard him coming upstairs "what's going on" he asked "I'm moving out" "what why" he asked "I've over stayed my welcome I've been here four months I'm gonna live with my cousin" "you don't have to Beth I like having you here" "you've been snappy and off with me the last few days Adam like I said I've over stayed my welcome" "I'm sorry I've had something on my mind I didn't mean to be snappy" he said coming nearer "it's fine you need your space back you don't need me cramping your style anymore" "Beth no don't go" he said suddenly closing the gap between us "I don't want you to go" "you can come visit" I told him he shook his head before rubbing his hand across his face "please don't go" he said he looked so sad "I need you" he said so quietly I barely heard him "what" I asked unsure I'd heard him right "I need you I'm crazy about you Beth" I was speechless he suddenly leaned in and kissed me I pulled away "what about Ryan" I asked "I told him how I feel about you he's not impressed but he said if I make you happy he can live with it" I nodded before moving away from him to carry on packing "Beth say something" he begged "how long you felt like this" I asked him "ever since I met you" he admitted "I don't want to come between you and ryan" I told him "you won't I promise Beth please tell me you feel the same" I slowly nodded my head at him a massive smile spread across his face as he came closer to me pulling me into his arms and kissing me
