So, basically, this is kind of my take on The Little Mermaid? Like if the little mermaid was my character, this is how I would imagine them. Miserable and in pain and a superhero, pretty much.

Name: Adriel Nerida Prince

Nickname: Bones, as in the Star Trek Original Series character. Side note: Adriel hates Star Trek, but their twin took 'Han' and since one must balance a sassy supporting Star Wars character with a sassy supporting Star Trek character, Adriel was stuck with 'Bones' to appease their family. It's stuck and has kind of grown on them. It's their only connection to their family now.

Age: 17

Alias: [*internally screams.* Um. I'll get back to this]

Gender: Genderfluid. Goes by either pronoun but prefers 'they.' Merfolk are pretty atomically different than humans, so their concept of gender is pretty different by correlation. And honestly, Adriel is pretty freaked out by the whole human gender thing. They've gotten the 'are you a guy or girl?' question many times and have never been able to answer it. Born (Built? Sewn-together? Made? When you wake up in a lab with -BAM!- human gentleman parts, what do you call yourself? ) male.

Appearance: Bones comes in two modes: Ice Queen and Elvish Prince. They're lanky by build, 6'2, slim at the waist and long in the limbs department. Their skin is a sun-kissed olive, hair black as bitter coffee and eyes like a moonless night. Basically? Dark skin, dark hair, dark eyes. Pointed ears too, and a lean, tightly-defined face. Their facial features are dainty and dollish, most notably their thick black lashes and soft lips. They look fragile, so thin and big-eyed you'd think a single hit would shatter them. They're a "tough cookie," as you humans say, but you'd never know by a casual glance. They like tight, ripped jeans and dark jackets. Denim jackets, leather jackets, knit jackets. Any will do. So long as they've got pockets. Hair is shaggy and reaches to their chin, dyed yellow at the tips. Often kept tied back in a short pony, and their nails are usually painted yellow to match the dye in their hair.

Personality: Expressive. That's what it comes down too. Opinionated and vibrant, Bones desperately wants to share their deepest loves and darkest hatreds, their joys and fears. They've always been this way, an explosion of excitement barrel rolling through the room, chatting up anyone who wants to talk. But now that Bones is mute, they've learned to express their emotions in other ways. They paint, blog, dance—even though dancing is inconceivably painful—but they still crave an earnest conversation. And when Bones is denied the right to express themself, they can turn violent. Bones has been known to hold people at knife-point for their cell phone numbers, just so they can text that person. It's a lot harder now for Bones to be their true, happy-go-lucky self, even though they try. It's made them a bit brooding and angsty and 'oh! Woe is me!' And it troubles them, sometimes, how they're both cynical and optimistic at the same time. It's caused them to be a bit double-sided, a playful, lovable creature on one hand, a violent, sulking creature on the other. They're an extrovert by nature, forced to retreat into themself because the others around them cannot and will not ever understand them. Where they came from, who they were. But they're still affectionate. They will chase the heels of their friends like a puppy and will kill to protect those they love. A fanboy at heart, they love to share their passions, especially for T.V and vegan cuisine. Has a penchant for releasing pets and destroying seafood restaurants. No one enslaves or kills Bones' pals, not on their watch. So Bones' loyalty to their loved ones can be a bit of a double-edged sword.

Powers: -Can telepathically communicate to animals: The connection is stronger with aquatic life, but nonetheless, Bones is always hanging around with an animal pal. That doesn't mean an animal will help them when they need it, but they can sometimes phone in a favor or two.-Can telepathically communicate with people: But only through touch. No touch, no mental link.

Strengths: Bones is inhumanly graceful and a beautiful dancer. Beyond that, they're skilled with the short blade and the art of the brawl. Can cook darned well.

Weaknesses: Bones used to have a siren's voice as a sea-creature, but they're mute now, so communication is much harder, to say the least. Bones knows little self-control and is also socially inept, forcing themself into people's heads whether those people want them there or not. Turns to violence very quickly. Painfully stubborn. Every step feels like walking on broken glass, but still, Bones dances. Bones just doesn't know when to stop, even when they're physically hurting themself and their friends.

Fears: Never being able to go back to the sea. Never being able to speak again. Being useless, being forgotten, dying without making a name for themself and without ever seeing their family again.Weapons: A pocket knife and twin daggers, one hidden in each boot.

Backstory: It was Bones' sixteenth birthday, actually. They were arguing with their stupid twin about the merits of Star Wars over Star Trek when this beautiful moron fell from his boat. Father said not to interact with land-dwellers, but pfft, what did Father know, anyway? Bones swam up, plopped the stranger on the sand, and was conked in the head. They woke up a week later, with legs now and their gills sealed up with super-glue. Apparently, they sold their voice for this. And walking hurts so bad it brings tears to their eyes. And Beautiful Moron ditched them. Ouch.

Quote:

"Quote. Harr harr. Oh, sweet marmalade, the world really hates me, doesn't it?"

"Look, man. I'm gonna stay in your head until you understand why Voltron Legendary Defender deserves the hype. You push my hand off you and I've got three knives and you've got one throat. Now shut up. It's a great show."

"I don't know why I'm here, or what I am, or what I was or what they made me or anything, alright? I just want to go home. But I can't even do that, because even there I can't breathe anymore."

"Could you not eat my friends? Thanks."

"This show is beautiful! Ah! I'm crying, help me, this is amazing, amazing, amazing. I think I'm sobbing because of how amazing this is. Are you sobbing, too?"

"Watch me. I'm going to make cuisine magic, baby."Other: Keeps napkins with them and a pen at all time. Uses them for quick communicate since they can't establish a telepathic link with all that many people at once.
