My mind was hazy. I could only dully make out my surroundings. I had been walking for at least four days, no food or water, and I knew that I was bound to collapse at any moment.
I tripped, the gash on my stomach reopened, and blood was steadily oozing out of my torso. It was night... I think, and the tall trees around me provided slight cover from that trackers that had been following me. I stood, slowly, and continued to walk. I had to get somewhere safe, somewhere with people. I needed protection.

My legs gave out, my breathing slowed, and black spots danced around my vision. Faintly, I could hear voices. Assuming it was the trackers, I smiled slightly.

"I'm over here." My voice called, barely above a whisper. "I'm about to die anyways, so come get me."

I inhaled another slow breath, before the darkness swallowed me, and I lost consciousness.

"Guy-sensei! We must reach the village as soon as possible!" Lee yelled out, fire burning in his eyes.
I rolled my eyes.

"Would you shut up already?" I glowered. "We'll be there in twenty minutes if we continue at this pace, so just be quiet!"

Lee looked at me, passion in his eyes, and was about to say something, when I heard a soft thud. I held my hand up to quiet him. He nodded, seeming to get the message. I shut my eyes, and concentrated chakra to the middle of my face.

"Byakugan!" I whispered, and opened my eyes, feeling the familiar sensation of near 360 degree vision. After a couple seconds, I could faintly make out the shape of a body about forty metres away. "That way!"

I started running toward the heap, deactivating my eyes. I stumbled into the thicket, and spotted the body. It was a male, presumably. He was caked in blood and dirt, and he was steadily bleeding from a large, angry-looking gash on his stomach. I could very faintly make out a ninja headband, and without a second thought, I scooped him up into my arms, and dashed in the direction of the gates, the rest of the team hot on my heels.

Once in the village, I darted to the hospital, and deposed him into the nearest empty room I could find.

"I need someone to help him!" I called out to a nearby doctor.

She came in, and the second she saw him, she pushed me out of the room, and called several more of the medical staff.

I left the building, deeming my work to be satisfactory, and headed in the direction of the Hokage's office to give my report.

Everything was foggy when I woke up. I could hear a faint beeping noise, and I felt myself positioned comfortably on something soft.

'So I didn't die.' I thought to myself bemusedly.

I opened my eyes and was blinded by a sea of white. I blinked, and waited for my eyes to adjust, and moved my head slowly to look around. To my left, I could see an IV drip, with a tube connecting to a needle inside my hand. One of the bags held a clear substance, which I assumed was water, and the other held a red substance, which I assumed to be either nutrition or medication. My body felt a lot less dirty, so I assumed that I had been washed and cared for, as one would expect from a hospital, and my clothes had been removed in favour of a hospital gown. I looked to my left again, and saw my Mist headband on a table beside the heart monitor. Upon closer inspection of the room, I could see that it was quite small, a single room. They probably figured out who I was from the clan marks, meaning I would probably be thrown out as soon as I was better, so I stayed quiet. On my right, there was a window overlooking a mountain with four faces carved into it, which I thought was strange.
