I stepped into the office and looked around.
I seen his pictures on the wall of him and this man and some kids.
I looked closer and seen that both of them had wedding rings on. I look at the other pictures and see more of them together. They were married, and they looked happily.
I moved around the office and looked at his license and degree on the wall, along with many of his awards.
This man was accomplished, he was celebrated, I want this.
"Trent Garrett?" He said walking in.
"Yes sir." I said embarrassed that he had seen me snooping around in his office.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Dr. James Miller." He said walking over and shaking my hand.
"Take a seat." He said sitting down in his chair.
"So what are we here to talk about Trent?" He asked me .
I looked around, "I really don't know, this wasn't my idea."
"I know, Michal asked you to come here, why do you think he wanted you to come here?" He asked me.
"I don't know, he thinks I'm crazy." I tell him sarcastically.
"No he doesn't think you're crazy, you don't have to be mentally ill to talk to a psychiatrist, in fact, talking to one may even keep you sane." He tells me.
"I know that, I just don't know what you want me to say?"
"Let's talk about what you did today, how about that?"
"Okay."
"So I went to my mom to see her and apologize to her."
"What did you have to apologize to her about?"
I hesitated.
"I was fucked up after what happened in May, I mean I didn't care about what happened to me, I didn't care about what was going on with everybody else, I just didn't give a fuck."
"Why didn't you care?"
I stared down at my hands and I didn't feel like speaking anymore.
"It's okay take your time." He tells me.
"Because it was my fault that it happened."
"You're talking about the shooting aren't you?"
"Yeah." I said looking away.
"Trent it wasn't your fault h....."
"Yes it was man." I said interrupting him.
"The week before graduation at prom, Mike saw me outside with Tavion, he saw us kissing. He came up to me and I thought he was angry because he saw me kissing a dude, but he was angry because I wasn't into him." I said rubbing my hands and staring at the ground.
"I swear I didn't know that he felt that way about me, I swear, I just, I just didn't know..." i said trailing off.
"Trent listen to me, you didn't put that gun in Mike's hand, you didn't make him come into that school and kill six people and injured five others."
"I might as well had." I said looking at him.
"Trent, if Mike had told you this and you didn't feel the same way. Do you think the situation would have been any different? He didn't tell you because of his own insecurities and he allowed those insecurities to take over to the point he broke and grabbed a gun and did what he did. You couldn't have done anything about this, you can't blame yourself for this. Mike made up his mind, as soon as he saw you kissing Tavion, there was nothing anybody could have done to stop him." He tells me.
