Perfect Two

Chapter 7

Loud chatter spread amongst the van yet I decided I didn't want to be part of any of it. Raimon eleven are currently on their way to Hokkaido where they seek an ace striker as well as defender. Everyone could barely hold in their excitement, me on the other hand, not so much. Like what could be so special about this player when we already have Mark as our best defender and Axel as our star striker, what more could we need.

I was seated between Jude and Mark who were both currently having a tactical conversation amongst themselves. I began to doze off as the snow gradually fell. Just as I was about to enter my slumber the van suddenly jolted into a stop.

"Coach, what's going on?!"

"What is happening?"

"What's up with the van?"

Everyone continued bellowing useless questions none receiving any worthwhile answers. I rose from my seat and took a deep breath.

"COULD YOU ALL SHUT UP FOR JUST A MINUTE?"

In a blink of an eye, everyone was seated with anxious look upon them.

"Thank you, Serena" said Coach. I nodded 'you're welcome' and also returned to my seat. Coach walked towards the driver and quietly asked what had caused the van to stop.

"Hey Coach, have a look outside" said Nathan.

Coach took a look toward the nearest window and I too did the same. However what I saw completely paralyzed me.

 I couldn't breathe; it felt as if someone was choking me. My heart was racing and I wanted to do was to curl up into a ball and wait for someone to save me. But no one would, no one was there. Just as the fear was about to entirely paralyze me, a boy with teal grey eyes and short, gray hair entered the scene.

He swiftly punched the bear in the guts causing it fall flat on its back. The boy lifted the now unconscious bear and placed it against a tree far away from the van.

 Our savior then began to make his way towards our van and everyone except the Coach, driver and I rushed out of the van to check on the boy's well being. Unfortunately, I was too shaken to move myself from my current position. Surprisingly, the boy began to make his way into the van along with the rest of the team and once again the chatter returned.

"Hey Serena, for a tough girl like you I didn't know you were so afraid of her" smirked a malicious Jude.

"It isn't my fault they're so big and hairy anyway what the story with that kid over there?" I pouted.

"Apparently his name is Shawn Frost and he needed a ride since he got lost in the blizzard" replied Jude.

"What a kid" I sighed as I shrugged my shoulders in defeat as I returned my gaze onto the boy seated in front of me.

I smiled devilishly as I decided to have a little fun with 'Shawn Frost'.

"Hey Mr. Frost may I ask you a question" I questioned. He turned his head as he looked to face me. Our gaze met; his teal-grey eyes to my blue ones. I turned MY head to the side to avert his gaze, but the sudden rosiness of my cheeks gave me away.

"Shawn is just fine" he said, his voice soft yet empowering in a peculiar way.

"Alright Shawn, what were you doing in the middle of the blizzard in the first place?" I questioned emphasizing his name seductively.

His face turned bright red almost the color of Erza's hair and he suddenly became flustered and began muttering complete nonsense.

"Hey snap out of it, what were you doing in the blizzard?" I snapped. Shawn became apprehensive and suddenly stood up.

"Thisismystopitwasnicemeetingyouallbuti'vegottagoBYE!" Shawn ran out of the van covering his flustered face. I sweat dropped at his sudden reaction.

"You've humiliated the poor boy, don't you have no sympathy" sighed an awkward Axel.

"Heh, I did what had to be done, he intrigued me after all" I replied.

Everyone sweat dropped at my response and settled back into their conversations. I tapped Jude on the shoulder as he looked my way and asked if I was ok. My face was filled with regret as I realized what a stupid thing I had forgotten.

"What did you do now Serena?" asked Jude.

"I forgot to tell him my name" I barely whispered.

"SERIOUSLY, SERENA"
