Adam was so painfully handsome.

It was impossible to not look at him when he was dressed in a navy-blue button down that showed off the delicate arcs of his collarbones and made his hair look lighter; it just wasn't right to not look at Adam when he looked so adorable with his indigo beanie pulled down to his nose, his pink lips always pulled into a smile.

Adam was beautiful, and Adam was here – in her house – and it meant the entire world to Belle. She was terrified, because she knew that this happiness is bound to come with a price, but if it meant Adam staying with her for a couple of hours, then Belle was ready to pay, interest included.

Adam was on his second cup of tea, and when it came to snacks and treats, Adam became a mess; getting crumbs all over his shirt and jeans. Belle had to sit closer to Adam to help him eat properly – she knew that she was asking way too much, blind folding him and all – and it was honestly the least she could do.

Being this close to Adam, she could see the freckles scattered across his nose and cheeks, the strong line of his jaw and the points of his cheekbones – Adam was just as beautiful up close as he was from a distance, and there was just something so bitter-sweet about being with someone so wonderful that Belle had to remind herself what she became.

"You know," Adam said, his lips pulled into a smile. "This rich people food is really good."

Belle bit her lip. She noticed that she laughed way too much around Adam, but she couldn't help but smile. "Adam, this is literally just bread and jam."

Adam was silent for a minute. "What, really? I guess it's really expensive jam and bread."

The laugh slipped out of Belle's mouth before she could even stop it. "I'm pretty sure it cost only seven pounds,"

"..."

"..."

"Seven pounds more than what I would normally pay."

Belle shrugged. "I'll be sure to hand you the receipt, next time,"

Adam smiled. "So there will be a next time?"

Belle coughed. "I-I didn't mean it like that. Not that I wouldn't want to, I just –"

"I'd love to do this again," Adam said, and there was just something about the tone of his voice and the gentle smile on his face that made Belle want to remember this moment forever. "Blindfolded and all."

"You're willing to go blind again, just to have coffee with me?"

"I'm willing to do a lot of things just to get to know you," Adam said, and it was times when he became like this that Belle had to remember that she and Adam could never have a happy ending. "Just tell me where and when."

"We'll see how tonight goes first," Belle whispered, smiling lightly. She wished she could let Adam see her for who she is – no hoodie, or veil, or anything – but the thought alone made her want to burst into a round of tears.
