Chapter 2 - The Wedding

Para sa isang babae ang pinaka masayang parte ng buhay niya ay ang maikasal. Well sabi nila......
Pero sa tingin ko hindi naman ganun ang nararamdaman ng bestfriend ko ngayon.

"Heyyyy, ano ba?! Ayusin mo nga yung mukha mo. Leight ikakasal ka, you ain't gonna die kaya ayusin mo yang expression mo. Daig mo pa namatayan." angil ko sa aking bride bestfriend

"Sa tingin mo Ice matutuwa ako? It's not like I want this wedding?! I don't want to marry that jerk of a man. Nakakainis, arghhh!!!" halata namang ayaw niyang makasal diba?

"Hahaha, that's your own problem Leight. Pinasok mo yan, siguro naman malalabasan mo rin diba? Mauuna na ako ahhh, hintayin kita sa simbahan kasama ang groom mo hahahaha!!!" sabi ko at sabay labas sa kwartong inookopa namin sa resort na pagdadausan ng kasal. At hindi na inintindi pa ang sigaw ng kaibigan kong sinalo lahat ng frustration sa mundo. Gumagana na naman ang mood swings niya, palibhasa buntis, bakit naman kasi inuna muna ang paspasan bago ang kasalan tsk.

Hayyst, kailan ba ako ikakasal? Pakiramdam ko lalagpas na ako sa kalendaryo single pa din ang drama ko. I wasn't even picky pag dating sa mga boys, but then wala naman akong magagawa, maybe they're afraid of me or something, intimidated maybe, that is why binansagan nila akong Ice though it could also resemble my name.

Well, that's how Beatrice Cassiopeia Ki---
a Korean-Filipina--- sways, that's how people see me. I really think I'm old at the age of 23, yet still a bachelorette, isang successful surgeon at oo kilalang surgeon kahit na kakaumpisa ko pa lang a year ago. At ang babaeng ikakasal ngayon ay ang best friend kong soon to be Mrs. Leight Gale D. Ventura-Jimenez. And I'm happy for her, she deserves the man.

Maybe I was preoccupied to not notice na andito na pala ako sa pinaka dulo ng resort at malayo na sa kasiyahan. Haysst, finally silence, it always makes me calm.

"Ang ganda parin talaga kapag tahimik ang paligid." sabi ko na may siyempere kasamang buntong-hininga.

"Wag kang mag-alala mas maganda ka naman sa katahimikan-"
"Ahh, palaka kang inire ka, sino ka ba?"
"Wow, alam kong inire ako pero di ako palaka, sa gwapo kong 'to isa akong palaka?"

Wow ka din, kapatid ata to ng hangin ehh, tsk breezy much!! Yabang

"Hoy mister napaka-humble mo naman ata?
Hiyang-hiya yung pride ko sayo ehh."

"Tsk, bahala ka. I'm just stating a fact, its up to you if maniniwala ka or hindi. Adiós Dr. Ki."

"Huh, ang weird mo. Bahala ka din, panira ng serenity. "Wait, what!! Did he just call me Dr. Ki??! How the hell? Oh yeah I forgot, I'm famous under the men in white or should I say Doctors? Naglakad na palayo ang hambog kaya di na niya siguro ako narinig. What a weird man indeed, tsk. I looked into my watch and slowly cursed myself.

"Shit the wedding." and before I knew it I was running back to the venue where I'm supposed to be supporting my bestfriend as her maid-of-honor.

"Ice!! Where have you been? Parang ayaw mo na ding matuloy ang kasal ahh? Hahaha" ani Leight

"I'm sorry okay, I was just overwhelmed by the place. Sakin mo pa talaga pinasa ang frustrations mo sa kasal ahh?" if I know mas maiin-love ka soon sa iyong hubby *evil smile*

"Ughh, let's just get this d*mn wedding over with!" geh besh angil pa more #the more you hate, the more you love

The wedding started, and both of them recited their vows which is "to have and to hold, bla bla bla". Siyempre after that picture-picture and the highlight of the event (for me) --- the reception, started.

Being the bestfriend and Matron-of-Honor I shall give my speech este message to the newly wedded couple *clap clap*

"So ahhmm, yeah. Hi beshie, first of all Congratulations to the both of you. I know it had been a tough ride for you both, however you managed to be here not as separate individuals but as one. Ahhmm, what could I say more? Hahahah, ahm I hope Gerald, you'll never get tired in loving my beshie, please always have patience in her.

(Gerald smiles and nod with my remark, while Leight has this stop-this-non-sense look)

And for you besh, you should keep your man, you'll never find anyone like him. We've been together for years, you know that I love you and I want the best for you. I'll always protect you, if somebody hurts you, just call my name and I'll be there (I said in a sing-song voice, and the audience laugh)

So yeah, good luck to your journey, I wish you all the happiness in the world. Lastly, please wala munang masyadong babies ahh? Wag na munang gumawa ng isang team of basketball players. Tsaka na when I'm ready." I manage to pull a joke in my last remark to ease my beshie for now she is crying.

The other guests and family members also gave their message to the couple.

Gerald's brother was called to give his message when suddenly my phone rang, showing one of the resident's name.

"Hello Dra. Ki? I'm sorry to disturb you. There's an emergency at the hospital.  The patient was shot near the lungs and in a critical condition. "

"Where are the other GS, aren't they on duty?"

"We're on volume Dra. lahat po ay busy, may mga incoming patients pa po."

"Ohh, ganun ba. I'll be on my way na. What are the vitals?"

"Stable naman po Doc,  medyo nagkaroon lang po kanina ng 98bpm. But it's taken care of."

"Alright, thank you. I'll be on my way. Update me, if magkaroon ng changes."

I ended the call and made my way to the parking lot of the resort, itetext ko na lang si Leight after the surgery, my patients need me.

Partly I was sad kasi sayang hindi ko nakita ang brother ni Gerald, hindi naman kasi palauwi ng Pilipinas yun, I bet his also gwapo like Gerald. Hayy, maybe next time?
