Namjoon's fingers go tap tap tap on his laptop and the soft rhythm is unable to whirl Hoseok out of his daydream

Namjoon's fingers go tap tap tap on his laptop and the soft rhythm is unable to whirl Hoseok out of his daydream. Or it could be painted as a gaydream, given his thoughts are occupied by none other than the mysterious Min Yoongi. The other day at the café, Hoseok was shook, as they now call the expression of being shocked beyond humane limits, when Jin and Jimin had simultaneously pointed out that Yoongi loved sugar, and only sugar, other than his immense dedication to art.

It still is confusing; this entire charade where Yoongi used to order Americano each morning until last week and now Hoseok is being painted weird and creepy for insisting to Jimin that Yoongi hates sweet beverages. The midnight haired boy even stopped coming to the shop, and if he does so on a blue moon, Jin is always there to tag along. According to Jimin, Yoongi is Jin's long-lost best friend. Not that Hoseok can confirm though; Yoongi literally avoids any contact with him, be it eye or smiles.

Where's his sass gone to?

The splash of the water spilling over his glass stirs Hoseok out of his swirling thoughts, and his eyes involuntary seek Namjoon in the household. There he is, on their bed, as he inspects through the open doorway, the laptop demanding Namjoon's full attention and a flash of disappointment swings past Hoseok's mind.

No, he is definitely not jealous that the past week, it is the damned laptop getting more attention than his starved self. Why would he be jealous of his boyfriend working hard?

No, Hoseok's disappointment and hurt is not related to the sudden workaholicness Namjoon is sporting. It has more to deal with how his boyfriend, the night after convincing Hoseok how much he loves him, has started to ignore him. Hoseok had woken up early that morning to a cold bed and a house reeking of night spent alone, and Namjoon had later explained his absence with drifting eyes and clenching fists that his work was unfinished at the station, causing him to run back without his laptop.

Gulping down the glass of water in one go, the boy patters down the unlit, small corridor and his palms latch onto the doorframe to their bedroom, a silent prayer in mind that Namjoon notice his appearance.

Which the brunette does, an eternity later, right when Hoseok wants break his poise and let his voice rise above the chaos in his head. And when Namjoon glances up through those long lashes at his rigid frame, his brown orbs almond-like and droopy, Hoseok is refrained from doing so, for his eyes look so, so tired.

"Hey," An almost imperceptible hesitance, "babe." Hoseok is not sure if the pain that momentarily shoots through him is real or imaginary.

"Shouldn't you go to sleep? It's almost one." Hoseok's mouth utters, looking at the bedside clock for confirmation, but his heart screams 'Why are you ignoring me, Joon? What have I done?'

"Ah, so it is. I guess I'll listen to you." A tight-lipped smile tugs at the corner of those plump lips and Namjoon yawns as he shuts down the laptop. Hoseok tentatively walks over to the bed and edgily seats himself on the comforter, as if wishing Namjoon to finally broach the topic the two of them had been dancing around for so long.

Something is breaking them apart, and it scares Hoseok to his wits ends. He loves Namjoon more than he ever gambled for and if the Fates take him away... Hoseok's not sure he wants to think beyond the dark, dark veil of heartbreak.

Oh, but the one up in the Heaven has different plans, for Namjoon reaches out and clicks off the lamp, shrouding the room in darkness except for the city lights outside, and Hoseok is certain, as he snuggles into the bed with Namjoon's back facing him, the pain that shoots through him is not imaginary.
