"Rylei! Get up! You'll be late for school at this rate!" I say banging on her door

"Five more minutes dad!"

"Young lady, if you don't get out of this room right now, I swear on the River Styx that I'll get you out of it with the toilet water"

"I'm up! I'm up!" she yells back suddenly

"Your breakfast is already on the table" I smirk from her reaction

"Thanks!"

I go back to my bedroom to get change and finish getting ready. When I come back to the kitchen. I see my girl already showered, dressed and almost done eating her blue pancakes

"Good morning dad."

"Good morning sleepyhead. Slept well?"

"Yeah, until someone woke me up"

"Well I'm sorry but you have to go to school young lady"

"But why? It's boringly easy"

"Yeah. Well I still don't get where you get that brain of your from"

"I know..."

"Everything's alright?

"It's that yesterday I... I noticed the looks my cousins' parents were sharing with their partner and... and there's this picture that picture of you with Annabeth I found in a box that accidentally ended up in my room instead of your... Dad, did you love mom? Or was I an accident?"

"Okay". she says as she comes to hug me "I love you, daddy"

"I love you too starfish," I say, enjoying that moment as it's becoming rarer with the time. My gaze then, unfortunately, or fortunately, land on my watch. "Shoot! If we don't hurry up, we're going to be late. Both of us. You ready to go?"

"Always! I prepare my backpack and clothes before going to bed, just like aunt Hazel made me do when she was babysitting me"

"Dad, you really like danger!" Rylei says, nervously gripping the door

I chuckle, smirking to her "If only you knew"

"Knew what?"

"When will you tell me about it? It's about what you did when you were a teenager right? when you met Annabeth and the others"

"Rylei, we already had this discussion, I can't tell you until your twelfth birthday"
