Annabeth POV

"Since when does mom have such a big house?" ask my open-mouthed and impressed boyfriend

"Since I designed it and my company built it"

"Damn, I know her books were sold out multiple times but to that point?"

"You really fell off contact with everyone from the East cost huh."

"Pretty much"

"How much did it cost to built it mom?" ask Rylei

"That is not something I can legally say to anyone and I'll let you grand-mother tell you herself"

"Okay, she'll probably not to go that far but just in case, I love you all and it's been a pleasure to have you in my life"

"Is she really that scary?" Rylei ask her step-brother

"I haven't really ever dared get her mad so I can't talk for Percy," he said, earning a glare from his father figure "but I'm sure she'll crush you in a bear hug. Other than that, you should have nothing to fear"

"Let's just do it already. Sitting in the car we'll get us nowhere" I finally say and exit the car

They follow suit and an apprehensive Percy knock on the door. We wait patiently, even if I can almost literally see Sally's son get more anxious with each second. Paul is the one that comes and opens the door. His face split in a big smile when he sees us.

"Hey, guys! Come on in!" he welcomes us in the house

"Hi grand-Paul!" salutes my son when he steps in

"Hello Scotty, how are you?"

" 'Scotty'? Now that's an awesome name! You're stuck with it now, Scotty"

"What? Grand-Paul! Look what you've done!"

"I told you I wouldn't stop calling you that as long as you keep calling me 'Grand-Paul'"

"I fear what you would call me if I dared call you that then," I say as I take my jacket off

"I don't know, I guess we'll never find out" he smiles and gives me a brief hug

"So you're the Paul Bloffis dad has been talking about?" ask Rylei as she gets rid of her shoes

"I guess I am. And you must be the infamous Rylei Jackson"

"Infamous would be a big word" mutter Scott from beside me, earning him a little slap on the back of the head

"I guess I am. Nice to meet you, sir" she greet over my son's yelp

"Oh no, no mister-ing me hear young lady! Just call me Paul."

"Would 'grand-pa' be alright?" she asks, making Paul smile brightly

"Sure! That would be my pleasure for you to call me that"

"Great!"

" 'Grand-Paul' still sounds better," says Scott

"I don't want to get a silly nickname like you Scotty"

"Oh, god no! I'm going to see grandma!" he declares and runs off to the kitchen

"Scotty! Wait for me!" yells his step-sister as she goes after him

"He's definitely stuck with that nickname now" I laugh and look at Percy, who's looking at Paul like he doesn't know what to do but the man save him the problem

"She looks just like you Percy. And she looks well. It seems you did a good job raising her on your own"

"I had help from my friends"

"Probably would have had a lot more help if you would have told us sooner that Sally has grand-daughter"

"When did he tell you?"

"The day I got in the car and took the road for New-York with Rylei"

"You didn't tell your mother you had a child until some weeks ago? But she's almost 12!"

"I know! Please don't give me a lecture, I already had dozens of them."

"Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter now. You're here, all four of you. At last, the family is back together" says Paul

"You're not mad?"

"I'm mostly sad I didn't get to see her grow up, and yes I'm a little upset but you're not here for a lecture so. Now, can I still get a hug from my step-son or did you get too old for that?" asks Sally's husband

"I'll take a hug every day over a lecture!" he laughs a little bitterly and goes in for the hug

"Fair warning though," says Paul after pulling away "Don't expect the same welcome from your mother"

Percy makes a face but sigh and look at his feets "I would have had to see her at some point, it was only a matter of time."

"Come on, she's in the kitchen, probably spoiling her grand-children rotten already"

"She's that type of grand-mother?"

"Worst" I answer as we step in the kitchen, where we see a crying Sally hugging her grand-daughter. Beside them, Scott makes a sign to stay quiet and we do, letting the woman enjoy her first meeting with her grand-daughter

When she finally opens her eyes, she sends a warm smile at me and Paul. It falters however when she sees who's behind us. She regain her composure seemingly out of nowhere and stands-up, breaking her hug with Rylei at the same time.

"Hello, Annabeth! Come here! It's been a while since we saw you!" she opens her arm, inviting me for a hug, which I immediately accept. Once you have been given one, you just can't resist one of Sally's hugs.

"Paul, why don't you guys go and set the tables with the kids, there's still something I need to prepare. The dishes are already in the dining room"

No one and I means 'no one', even has a single doubt on what she wants to do. Without a word, all four of us get out of the room, leaving the mother-son duo to have a talk they probably really, really need.

Paul and I share a look when the sound of a slap makes itself heard from the kitchen, knowing really well what kind of talk is about to go down in that
