Percy POV

It had to be Annabeth, didn't it? As soon that I get back to New-York, I have to have my memories thrown right in my face like this? Like if someone didn't want me to wait before I meet her... I mean damn, she has grown even more beautiful with time. Motherhood did her wonders. Come on Percy... Stop thinking about her, you'll soon enough when you get home.

I think that without thinking about it, I take big detours and even stop to take a coffee. But I eventually get home and take a deep breath before entering. I'm met by a lovely smell: Rylei's blue meatballs spaghetti. The pot is still on the oven, lightly fuming

"Rylei? I'm home!"

"Coming!" she says from her room. She gets out of it in PJ and runs to give me a hug

"Did you wait for me before eating?"

"No, I hate an apple to shut my hunger. I knew you were coming late and since you didn't say when you were coming home, I knew it would be after 8 pm."

"But it's 7h30 pm"

"I give myself a 30 minutes mistake marge"

"I'm sorry Rylei... I should be able to pass more time with you"

"Hey, it's alright daddy. You're doing what you can and I'm not lacking anything"

"Still..."

"Come on dad, let's eat and after that, you'll be able to tell me the story"

"I'm really lucky to have you starfish"

"Not more than I'm lucky to be your daughter"

We then silently eat, but not an awkward silence. It's a comfortable one, where we can relax and simply be happy to be home. After dessert, we leave the dishes on the counter and go to the living room.

"Alright... where to begin..."

"How about how you met Annabeth?"

I chuckle "No, that would be a part of what I still can't tell you."

"Not funny"

"Oh, I know... Ok, I think I can start by this: How I and Annabeth broke up"

"That's a strange start of the story"

"Because it's the start of what would lead to your birth. So Annabeth and I had been together for quite sometimes then and I wanted to marry her"

"You loved her that much?"

"Oh yes and even more... So like I said, I wanted to marry her and wished for her parents to bless our union. Her father immediately agreed but her mother wanted me to do a... job for her first."

"A job? What kind?"

"Can't tell you yet. So I went to do that job. It took me quite a moment, weeks in fact. When I had finished, I went to see her mother and she did give me her blessing to our union. I think the only moment I felt happier was when I finally got your custody."

"I was really happy then. I was free from mom."

"Yeah. It was quite a relief. Where was I?"

"You just got Annabeth's mother's blessing."

"Right. So I went back to where we were staying at the time and grab the ring. I still have it I think."

"Can I see it?"

"Yeah, it's nothing secret. Wait here" I stand up and go get the small box I never opened since I closed it at the jewelry store after I bought it. I come back to the living room and show it to her
