"VIP meets in 10 mins!" West shouts into the bus.
"Shit, sorry." Sam stands up, accidentally nudging me.
"You wanna come?" He asks, holding his hand out. I take his hand and let him pull me up. We walk together to the room where sound check is taking place.
"Hey, Sam." Fil smiles, standing next to him. I take a seat across the room and watch the boys meet their fans and receive hugs and gifts. I like watching Sam while he's happy; seeing his smile makes me happy. He seems to be getting on well with Fil.
"Hey," Leo says, sitting next to me.
"Hi."
"Look how happy Sam is."
"He's living his dream. Remember when him and Fil came into your house and told us they wanted to start a band. We spent hours in your dad's garage making those rubbish covers." Leo laughs.
"That was funny. We gave up our weekly gym session for them. When we get home we could sign up for the gym, all of us." I bring up an idea.
"Sure, I could use some working out."
"Sorted. I'll tell Sam when they have free time."
"Is there anything between you and him?"
"No, why would you think that?" I lie.
"I was just thinking. Anyway, nice talking, I gotta help set up stage." Leo waves as he walks off.
Once Neck Deep are done with the VIP meets, Sam helps me set up merch.
"You want a hoodie?" He asks, holding up their in bloom hoodie.
"Sam, that's £45. You'd lose £45."
"Not if I'm paying." He gets out his wallet and puts two £20 notes and a £5 note in the money pot.
"Sam." I try to convince him that I don't need one but he puts the hoodie over my head.
"There you go."
"Thank you." I stand on my tiptoes and kiss his nose.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
We watch As It Is from the side as they play their set.
"Patty's great. I haven't spoken to him much though."
"That's something I can sort out before the end of this tour. Also, his girlfriend's coming to a few shows so you can hang with her."
"Thanks, Sammy."
"Anything for you."
As Dial Tones, their last song, ends, Sam pulls me closer for a quick kiss before walking off backstage. I walk over to help Charlie with the merch. We serve around 30 people before the lights go dark and Neck Deep run on stage.
The show goes well until a few people start crowdsurfing. I see Ben stick his finger up at the security guards so I can only assume they're not supporting the crowdsurfers. Ben stops singing and climbs off the stage to help the fans before getting escorted off stage. Fil takes action and nudges a security guard with his foot, followed by them not responding and Fil kicking them. I see his blonde hair through the crowd and see his arms flailing about. The security get him in a headlock and force him off stage. I rush to the backstage area to check they're all okay.
"Sam!" I yell, running into his arms.
"Shows over, security fucked it!" I hear Ben yell and the crowd all shout angry remarks. Sam's grip tightens on me.
"Don't worry about it babe. We can go back to mine if you want." I nod and follow Sam out the back. We go to the bus and grab some clothes before running to the closest bus station, taking the next bus to Lincoln.
I grab Sam's hand as we sit on the bus, tears in my eyes.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. It just reminds me of when I fought my dad when my mum died. I wrestled and kicked him until I got tired and passed out. I shouldn't have done that." I lean into Sam's shoulder and close my eyes.
"Let's listen to some music." Sam gets his earphones out and hands one to me and puts the other one in his ear. He pressed shuffle and we listen to The Front Bottoms as we watch the city disappear into the fields.
Sam wakes me by lightly shaking me.
"We've gotta get off now." I nod and get up, grabbing my bag and following Sam.
"We have another bus back to Saxilby now."
We get on the second bus and I manage to calm myself down. The bus stops outside the pub so we have to walk for 5 minutes before we reach Sam's house.
"Hey, you're back early?" Emma says as she opens the door to let us in.
"Yeah, the security kicked off. The rest of the band are still there. We decided to head back early."
"Oh, okay. Steve and I are going out in half an hour so if you want you can order a pizza, I'll leave you some money in the kitchen."
"Thanks, Emma!" I hug Emma.
"Let's go watch some films." Sam leads me into his room and we pick out a film each. Of course, Sam chooses E.T and I choose the remake of IT. We watch E.T first.
Halfway through the film, Sam's phone lights up with a text from Fil and mine with a missed call from Leo. We decide to leave it and carry on watching the film.
We turn off E.T as it ends and decide to order pizza. We call domino's and order a delivery of a veggie supreme pizza.
The doorbell goes off 20 minutes later and Sam goes down to fetch the pizza and pay. I decide to look around Sam's room and see an open notebook on his desk. I read through the words he scrawled on the paper and figure it's a song. Sam's footsteps echo through the house and I realise he's coming so back I sit on the bed again and make it look like I never got up.
"Pizza!" He grins, placing the box on the bed, inbetween us.
