"This is it." I clutch Sam's hand tighter as we approach the dark blue door of my father's house. He's been living in misery ever since my mother died. He never checks in on me, he's distant.

I gulp and knock three times on the door. We wait for a few moments before the door is opened, revealing an unfamiliar face of someone that used to be so familiar to me. His hair had grown out past his ears and a scruffy beard littered his chin, giving me the impression he doesn't take care of himself.
"Mia!" He throws himself forward and wraps his scrawny arms around me. I can't help but wince as his body comes into contact with mine. He pulls away and breathes, his breath consumed with the thick smell of alcohol and smoke.
"D..Dad," I mutter, taking in the sight of his ruined body.
"Daughter. And...Sam? Did I get that right? Come in."

We follow him as he staggers to the living room. Empty beer bottles crowd the shelves, tables and even the floor next to the sofa. I hate to see people in this state, especially my dad.

"Can I get you a drink? Beer? Tea? Coffee?" He says as Sam and I sit on the sofa.
"Uh, just a coffee please." I answer and Sam opts for a beer.

"So, what have you been doing lately?"
"I've been touring with Sam's band, selling their merchandise."
"Your band must be getting big now. Played America yet?"
"Ages ago, Mr Hedley."
"Call me Martin."
"Sorry, Martin. Yeah it's really taken off. We're booking our South American tour for next year!" I love when Sam talks about his job, he really seems to be enjoying what he's doing. I'm happy I can be by his side while he lives his dreams.

After two hours of updating my dad on my life, we decide to move on to Sam's parents now. We're using the day well before we play Nottingham later, a kind of home show for Sam and Fil.

"Sam! Mia!" Sam's dad, Steve, says as opens the front door, engulfing Sam and I in a hug.
"They're here!" He shouts to Emma, Sam's mum, who's lurking in the kitchen.
"My boy! My favourite girl!" She rushes over, hugging Sam and I.
"Where's Fil? Leo?" Steve asks and we explain that they've gone to see their family in Marton and Grimsby.

We take a seat on the sofa of their living room and talk about things that happened on tour, including the whole 'Serious Sam' incident.
"So yeah, then I admitted I liked her and here we are!" Sam pulls me closer into his side.
"You owe me £20, Steve!" Emma holds her hand out towards her husband.
"I always knew you two would end up together." Emma smiles.
"I thought it'd be you and Fil, Mia."
"Nah, Fil's too stupid," I laugh.

"It's been a pleasure having you. See you two tonight!" Steve says, putting his arm around Emma as they stand in the doorway.
"Don't screw it up," I hear Steve whisper as he hugs Sam.
"Bye!" Sam and I walk hand in hand to Sam's car.

"You wanna get something to eat?" Sam asks, pulling out of the driveway. We finally decide to go to this fancy restraunt on the edge of Lincoln, Damon's. We'd been there for many celebratory occasions, including when we found out Neck Deep got signed.
"I love it here," I say as we walk upto the door, Sam's arm around my waist.
"I know you do. We've got to eat quickly though."

"Table for two?" The smartless dressed waiter asks and Sam nods, he leads us to a table in the corner near the window.

Sam and I order a sharing portion of bbq ribs and chips, Damon's speciality.
"Sam?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For this. For everything." I lean over the table and press a kiss to his lips. We're interrupted by the waiter coming with our food.

"This is delicious."
"Yeah. Um...babe, you got something on your lips," I laugh, pointing at the imaginary bbq sauce on Sam's lips. He raises his eyebrows and I motion for him to lean forward for a kiss.
"Pathetic excuse for a kiss," he laughs, realising there was no sauce on his lips.

"I love you." Sam mutters.
"What?" I raise my eyebrows.
"I love you, Mia." He repeats, adding my name.
"I love you too, babe." I hold his hands across the table and grin.

Fil's P.O.V
Leo and I sit on the bed in my room at my parents house.
"You've got to tell her how you feel. You've liked her since you met her." Leo pesters me.
"She won't like me back, I know that."
"You never know if you don't ask. If it doesn't work out, you should just move on."
"I guess." I sigh.
