Sebastian's POV
Even though it was already ten minutes till midnight, I was still in my study looking through some projects and sales. As I looked at the projects, I realised one had Fiona's name on it and that's when I remembered what happened earlier and I could feel rage boil in me as I remembered her words. I shut down my laptop and placed the papers on my desk since I was too angry to concentrate on anything anymore.
Just when I was about to stand up, I heard a knock at the door. "Come in" I said in a hoarse voice. A maid walked in, bowed slightly and said, "Excuse me sir, you have a visitor"
I looked at my wrist watch and wondered who on earth could be visiting me at midnight. The door was opened wide and I saw my aunt Clarissa standing there with a smile on her face.
"Seriously Sebastian, I thought you'd be asleep by this hour but here you are and you haven't removed your tie. Is anything wrong?" She sat on the seat in front of my desk and looked at me. She had raised me ever since my parents died when I was 7 and for that I was very grateful to her. I looked at her and gave out a sigh.
"I was going to collect my loan when some good for nothing came in and threatened me. She ruined everything." I was amazed aunt Clarissa was listening to everything attentively. "Do you know her?" She asked and I nodded my head.
"She's Fiona." Suddenly, something changed in her eyes and she stood up and walked to and fro. "Sebastian, please don't tell me you're referring to Fiona, as in the Fiona Ivor, the voice queen."
I looked at her and nodded my head. She continued pacing to and fro as she placed one hand over her forehead. "Why? Of all people in this world, why did it have to be her?" She asked in a mere whisper and I looked at her kind of worried.
"Don't worry aunt, she didn't carry out her threat."
"It's not her threat that I'm worried about, it's the both of you." Wait.....what does she mean the both of us? The way she sounded made me feel as if she was referring us as a couple which will never be to the fact that I hate her more than anyone else.
"What do you mean by 'us'?"
She took in a deep breathe before sitting down, opening her handbag and removing a paper. I looked at her puzzled as she handed me the paper. "Before your father died, he told me about the agreement your grandfather had with the Ivor family. It stated that anyone who would run the Rockwell Company would get married to the first child of the Ivor family. Unfortunately, when your dad ran the company, the Ivor family didn't have any daughter, so it was passed to the next children...."
"Which is me..." I completed her statement and she nodded her head. "Fiona is the first daughter of the Ivor family. So that means...." I have to marry Fiona. I stood up and shook my head as I repeated the word no. I can never marry her, she.....well, I don't know if she hates me but I do hate her. I looked at the paper and it truly was the agreement. I looked at her again and her eyes seemed to be saying sorry.
"There is no way I'm going to marry her, I mean, I hate her to the core of my very bone and now you expect me to marry her? Nope, no way.I'm sorry grandfather but hell no!" I said as I looked at his portrait.
"Look Sebastian..... I know it's hard to accept but if you don't Rockwell Company is going to be shut down. I looked at her and she pointed at the back of the paper. " If we don't accept this agreement, the Ivor or our family attorney can shut down the company."
What on earth did I do to deserve all these? It was as if destiny was throwing this girl in my path even after I made it very clear that I despise her so much. Wait......I remember the promise I made to her, ".....I promise you, I will make you regret crossing paths with me." And how else could I fulfil my promise unless we were husband and wife?
I looked at my aunt, closed my eyes then said, "Okay, I will marry her." She smiled and placed her hand on my shoulder, "You did the right thing Sebastian. Now go and sleep, tomorrow we'll have to visit them." I nodded my head and walked out behind her. I knew she thought I accepted it for the company and that's what I wanted her to continue believing. Watch out Fiona Ivor....... your future husband is coming, not to shower you with affection but to make you pay for what you did.
