Chapter 1

Naruto's POV

I walked thorough the halls of Suna High, trying to find my insomniac red haired best friend. I looked around cause I had an important message to give to him from a certain brown haired girl. As I was walking, I couldn't help but feel like a messenger delivering love letters to lovers. It made my blood boil slightly as my friend could easily have someone else do this for him. It really annoyed me that I had to waste my lunch running back and forth instead if eating ramen and chatting with my friends.

"Why do I have to be so nice," I mumbled under my breath as I walked to the designated spot where Gaara and I would meet at. I soon spotted him leaning against the wall with the window to his back, his arms crossed and eyes closed. I felt irked that all he had to do was look like that and he got millions of fangirls while I had to actually try to get a girl to notice me.

"What did she say," Gaara questioned, not moving, he didn't even try to open his eyes to look at me.

'I fucking hate you,' I thought. Though I said, "She told me to tell you to meet her at the ice cream shop near school and that you two would talk."

I ran a hand through my spiky blonde locks in slight frustration for all of this running around without so much as a "thank you" or something in return. Gaara stood up and walked over to me. He placed a hand on my shoulder, smiled softly, and said, "Thanks Naruto. You have no idea how much you're helping me." And with that, he left me there, shocked up say the least. He was Gaara, the Gaara, the guy no one wanted to fight because, sure as hell, you'd end up dead.

I stood there for a few more minutes before I realized I could eat and talk with my friends. I jumped up and shouted in glee, being free was amazing! Though it was shirt lived as the bell rang through the halls, signaling the end of lunch. Sad was an understatement if how I felt right then and there. I slowly shuffled my feet to my next class as everyone else happily walked to their classes, chatting with friends as they walked.

'All I wanted to go was eat ramen and chat with my friends,' I thought. 'Is that too much to ask for?'

I had made it to my English class and sat down just as the bell rang. Thankfully, my class was too busy socializing to realize I had barely made it in on time. My class waited for the teacher who seemed to be judging everyone silently by the way he stared at us. It sent chills down my spine just trying to figure out what he was thinking. After he silently judged us, he cleared hi throat in an annoying and loud way.

"We will be starting our lesson now so get your things out," he simple said before turning to the board and writing on it.

Everyone scrambled to get their things out for English. Everyone in this class knows that if you don't do as he says, you'll either fail this class or get a months detention. Everyone knows because I'm the example. I did it last semester but I won't do it this time around. I quickly pulled everything out and write down what was on the board as he explained the lesson to us.

Time skip

I walked out of Suna High and saw Gaara waiting for, no doubt, the brown haired girl aka Matsuri. I grinned knowingly, though he saw me and sent me a glare that said 'Tell anyone and your dead meat.' I felt a bead of swear fall down the side if my face as I backed up in defeat. As I walked away, the caught a glimpse of the girl that stole Gaara's heart.

She was cute, I had to say that. Her hair was a light brown that went down to barely touch her shoulders. Her light brown eyes shown with happiness and live when they landed on Gaara. She was wearing the girls' school uniform which was a dark brown skirt that reached to her mid-thigh, a white shirt with a light brown tie. She wore black dress shoes and knee high white socks while carrying a leather bag.

'Lucky bastard,' I thought, feeling envious that Gaara could get every girl in out school to blush hard whenever he looked at them.

"Don't let this get you down, Naruto," a female voice said as a hand ruffled my hair. I looked and saw a girl with four ponytails holding her blonde hair. I looked next to her and saw a guy with dark brown hair and purple "war paint" on his face. My spirits rose upon seeing my friends.

"Temari, Kankuro," I said, feeling a smile form on my lips. They both responded by giving me closed eyed smiles.

"Yep," the blonde-Temari-said. "It's Hell living his life."

"Why," I asked, confused. "It would seem nice to be noticed by girls other than you Temari."

"It's not," Kankuro said, looking at me with a straight face. "Wanna know why Gaara's insomniac?"

I nodded my head slowly as we started to walk home.

"Gaara's insomniac because of his stockerish fangirls," Temari said.

"He was sleeping and got up in the middle of the night to get some water and when he looked out the window. some girl was staring at him," Kankuro told. "He screamed and called 911. The girl was too stupid to move and ended up with a restraining order to stay 100 meters away from him, wherever he is. And no matter how much we tell him it's okay, he never sleeps. It's pretty scary."

I looked from Temari to Kankuro again and again, not believing that story was true. They seemed to notice my attitude to it cause they shrugged their shoulders and said, "Ask Gaara," which I would like to avoid. I was really glad though at the same time that I didn't have any fangirls to scare me into being insomniac.

"Well, see ya tomorrow Naruto," Kankuro said while waving as they walked away. It was then that I realized we had walked to my house while they were telling the story. I sighed as I walked into my house, not wanting to do anything but eat ramen and sleep. I kept those feelings away and started on my pile of homework that had been assigned to be done by tomorrow.

"I really don't want to do this," I said aloud.

"Naruto!" I heard my mom shout from the kitchen. "You better be getting your homework done!"

"I am," I loudly said, making sure I was still using my "indoor" voice.

"Good!" was part of her reply. "Dinner will be ready by six and we're having my homemade ramen so don't eat anything, okay?"

"Okay," I said as I placed my earbuds in my ear and played music to help me concentrate.
