Two Years Later

I stared into my 3-year old God-daughter Alex Becker's cobalt blue eyes Saturday evening as I caressed her in my arms.
"Oh my God Andrew, I can't believe how much she looks like you." I exclaimed to Lexy's boyfriend.
Today was Alex's 3rd birthday, and we were having a small get together at Lexy's house. Her mom allowed her to move into an apartment with her boyfriend. But they only spend nights there, and when they go to school during the day Ms. Tyson watches little Alex.
"Yeah, but she still has the beauty of her mother." Andrew smiled pecking Lexy's blushed cheek.
"Get a room." Ashton said rolling his eyes as him and Amanda were cuddled in the couch.
"Harlow, is Jared still coming?" Lexy asked me as she lit the candles of Alex's birthday cake.
"Yeah, he just texted me. He'll be here in five."
Lexy sighed and sat on the couch. "I can't believe you're graduating in only a couple months. Who am I gonna eat lunch with now? I hate being a year younger."
I giggled, "Lex, don't worry. You have plenty of other friends. And when I'm in college I'll have a bunch of spare time to visit you and hang out with my little Alex."
As soon as I finished that sentence, a knocking came from the door and I rushed to answer it.
"Baby! You're here." I gushed as I pecked my boyfriends lips.
"Finally." he flashed his white teeth at everyone. Every inch of that boy was perfect. "Happy birthday little Alex!" he exclaimed throwing the child up in the air and catching her back in his arms, her giggling up a storm.
Yes, I finally got a boyfriend. My first since Dyrek. I told you guys I wouldn't date until senior year, and I meant it.
"Hurry up and get your own child Jared, you'd make a great daddy." Andrew smirked.
"Well I-"
Jared interrupted me, "We're working on it." he smiled and put both arms around my waist.
"Time to blow out the candles!" Lexy shouted as everyone gathered around the dining table and she plopped Alex on her lap.
Right after everyone sang the traditional 'Happy Birthday' song, Alex immediately dug her hand into the cake creating a giant mess, but sending laughter all around.
Once we all had our cake and laughs, we watched some old horror movies on Netflix after Andrew put Alex to sleep in her crib.
I had my face buried in Jared's chest the entire time, based on my low tolerance for horror movies. But he had his comforting arm around me the entire time.
"I was serious about that baby." Jared whispered in my ear suddenly calming me down.
"Really?" I said as I looked up into his hazel eyes.
"Yeah. I think we'd make a great family." he smiled down at me.
"Me too." I said before stretching my neck to give him a long kiss.
We spent the rest of the night watching movies and eventually falling asleep on Lexy and Andrew's couch. I really would like to have a family with Jared. I know he'd make an awesome, loving dad.
But Dyrek would make a better one, just saying. (;
The end!
