"R-resistance?!" I sputtered, looking at the winged woman with wide eyes. This is not how I expected the day to go.

"Yes, that's what I just said, isn't it?" She looked down at me with cold, calculating eyes.

"What resistance? What is there to resist?" Confusion bubbled within me. Why would anyone need a resistance? It's a game! Unless...this is apart of the game?

"There are many things to resist, but most of all, it's Merle Ambrose."

"Ambrose?" I scrunched my eyes brows. "The useless wizard? Why would you need to resist him?"

"It's a long story, one that I do not have the time to explain. Not yet, anyway." Lady Oriel said, looking up at the sky.

"Nu-uh, bitch, no way you're leaving me hanging after telling me something like that." I glared at her.

She sighed and looked down. "Stupid Ceren always making stupid decisions and sending me stubborn people." She mumbled before looking up. "Fine, you want to know the story?" I nodded. "Come here when it gets dark. I will tell you then. And remember to use the phrase Ceren gave you."

"Dark? It never gets dark in this fucking place. It's a game." I said slowly, making Lady Oriel narrow her eyes.

"Come here when it gets dark," Lady Oriel repeated, "but first, you must tell me, will you join the resistance or not?"

I looked up and met those cold, blue eyes.

"We'll see."

I muttered as the third dark fairy exploded with a screech. "Stupid game. Stupid Lady Oriel. Stupid Ceren who for some reason is really hot."

After I had said those to words, Lady Oriel seemed to glitch and then a much nicer version of her was sending me on another freakin' quest.

Goal Complete: Collect fairy dust

New goal: Talk to Lady Oriel

I sighed and walked back into the maze. Lady Oriel stood in the middle, watching me, her looming figure sending chills down my spine despite her warm smile. I slowly went up to her.

"You have returned with the Fairy Dust! Please give it to me so that I can investigate the reason for their corruption."

'Lady Oriel looks visibly shaken.' A woman's voice noted.

I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, Siri."

Lady Oriel continued speaking, "They have been enchanted by something that is Undead! This does not bade well. How has evil become so brazen in this place? These are dark times indeed."

"Dark like my soul." I grinned a little. Lady Oriel did not acknowledge me.

"I have heard that someone has hung Bone cages along the street. I fear these are being used to trap my fairies and corrupt them. Please, you must free the captured Fairies from those horrible Bone Cages before they become corrupted. Go quickly, my friend!" Lady Oriel pointed to the exit of the maze.

New goal: Open 4 Bone Cages

"So glad we're friends now." I flashed her a smile and ran to the exit before she could say anything. I spotted the first bone cage right outside the maze. "Damn, she much be seriously lazy if she has to send out other people to do this." I slipped my wand into my boot and walked around the cage with the fairy in it -who, by the way, was just sitting there- and tapped my chin thoughtfully. "How do I get this open?"

I jiggled the lock of the cage and then tried pulling it off. To no avail. I began to pull at the door, willing it to open. Then I tried the metal bars. I shook the cage, banged on it, pulled at it. By the end, I was panting and the cage was still locked.

"Why won't you freaking open?!" I yelled.

"You could try using your wand." My head snapped up and I saw the fairy staring at me through the cage bars, still sitting with a bored look on their face.

"What?"

"Your wand. Just tap the lock with it."

Of course! I'm a Wizard! I know magic. How could I have been so dense? I took out my wand from my boot and tapped the locked with it. I heard a click and opened the door, letting the fairy out.

"Thanks." She clipped and flew away. I sighed. I cannot believe it was that easy. I trudged around and opened three more cages.

Goal complete: Open 4 Bone Cages

New goal: Talk to Lady Oriel in the hedge maze

I made my way back to the maze and started walking up to Lady Oriel when a voice stopped me.

"Thank you for helping out the Fairies. They did not mean to be evil, but the corruption made them to do things." A fairy told me.

"Yeah, okay. Um...you're welcome, I guess." I said awkwardly and finished walking up to the winged woman.

"We thank you, Rowan! The freed fairies have already told me of your heroism. Your deeds will be remembered here on Unicorn Way!"

"Oh boy!" I said, sarcastically. Sometimes even I don't even understand my mood swings. Guess this game just brings out the worst in me.

"And to show you my appreciation, here is a healing spell. Remember to add it to your deck so it will aid you in your time of need." She handed me a card and I took it gratefully.

Level up! You are now level 3!

I turned to leave, but Lady Oriel continued talking. I groaned and turned back around. I just want to do something else! Does this woman ever stop talking?

"We must now find out who is behind the corruption."

"Do it yourself." I whined. "I don't wanna help anymore."

She ignored me. "My fairies whispered of a monster whose bones made a clacking sound as it came for them. Ceren Nightchant knows Unicorn Way very well. He will know if there is a sinister skeleton that now haunts my street."

New goal: Talk to Ceren Nightchant

I sighed, "Fiiiiiiiine, but only cause he's cute." I turned, and luckily was not stopped again.
