Laurent watched in awe as Larry shopped. He didn't even look through the clothes or at the price tags, all he did was point at a clothing and the attendant following would take them from the hanger and put it in the cart she was rolling.
So, this was how the rich shopped, Laurent thought smiling to himself.
Larry looked so at ease with shopping, like he belonged there.
"Shoes," Larry called.
"Please come with me," The attendant hurriedly led the way.
They walked into a big room, stacked in shelves that touched the ceiling. The shelves had to be at least 15 feet high.
"When did these come in?" Larry pointed at a shelf.
Laurent gasped. They were so beautiful. He could drown in them.
"Last week, Sir. The Louis Vuitton, 3 weeks ago."
Larry looked at Laurent's direction but not directly at him. "What's your size?"
"46," Laurent answered.
Larry nodded once, then started to walk around. "Please get me this, this, this... this, this, this.. this, this..."
Laurent lost count at how many shoes Larry had pointed at. They were so many. Personally, he didn't think a person needed more than 3 pairs of shoes; one in black, one in white and one of your favorite color. But that was only his poor mentality speaking, if he had the money, he'd buy all the shoes in the store.
They went on and Larry added a wrist watch, hand chain, a necklace and 2 rings.
The items were bagged and carted to Larry's car where they were put in the trunk.
"Thank you, Sir. Please call again."
"Of course," Larry nodded.
Silently, Larry got into the car and Laurent followed. This time he didn't say anything to Larry.
When the driver pulled into the house, Felix came rushing towards them.
"Is there a problem, Sir?" He asked, opening the car door for Larry, surprised Larry wasn't at work.
"No, Felix. Please call Nora and have the items in the trunk sent up to my cousin's room."
"Yes, Sir," Felix said and went away to fetch Nora.
"You have no excuse to wear those clothes anymore. Change into something nice and we leave in 15 minutes."
Laurent's heart swelled as he stood in his room, looking at the bags of clothes and shoes. Larry had spent a fortune on him in a space of 30 minutes. How could he pay him back? Where would he start from? How long would it take?
Then he remembered he was timed. Laurent dived the clothes and wore the first items he could lay his hand on. When he got back then he could start sorting them out. But he didn't want to get Larry angrier.
When he was done, he rushed outside the same time Larry was and almost slammed into Larry.
"Ah, you scared me," Larry jumped back a little.
"Sorry, I non want for be late."
"Careful. Let's go."

Larwares was bigger than Laurent had thought. Even the photos on the internet did not do justice to the masterpiece he was looking at.
The place was buzzing with employees who acknowledged Larry's presence. It was exciting, for Laurent, watching so many white people call Larry boss. It made him giddy.
They entered the elevator and Larry pressed the last button.
"Here, you'll be more of an assistant. I don't trust you enough to leave you by yourself," Larry said as the elevator took them up. "At least not until you know what the company is about."
"It is fine by me."
Larry gave Laurent a look. "It was that or back to France. Stop talking like you have options. You don't."
Laurent nodded. "Okay."
The elevator stopped and Larry stepped out and walked straight ahead with Laurent following.
"Good morning, Sir."
"Good morning, Patricia."
"Good morning, Mr Bourgeois."
"Good morning, Angela."
"Morning, Sir."
"Morning, Jane. Did you set up the desk next to your station?" Larry asked as a chubby Asian lady who was heavily pregnant walked over to him, handing him a file.
"Yes, Sir," She said, taking his suitcase from his hand.
Laurent looked at the size of her protruding tummy. She had to be at least 8 months pregnant or she was having twins.
"Did Mr Cheng call?" Larry asked, flipping through the pages.
"Not yet, Sir."
"How about Nirosoft on the partnership?"
"They're asking for more time."
"More time? That's the 4th 'more time' they're asking for," Larry sighed. "Okay. 2 weeks."
"Yes, Sir."
"Oh, and this is Laurent, my cousin, the one joining us here."
Jane gave Laurent a soft smile which he returned. "Welcome."
"Show him around and help him settle in. Like I said, he'll assist you mainly and the other departments once in a while to get familiar with what we're doing."
"Yes, Sir."
Larry nodded and walked off into a room.
Laurent went to follow him but Jane wrapped an arm around his arm. "Not too fast, Laurent. Let's take a walk."

What do you guys think? Is it going slow? I just don't want to rush it but work my way slowly into the main plot.
