Mason led me into the house and up three flights of tan carpeted stairs. I held onto the banister at the top to catch my breath. Mason smile sheepishly.

"Sorry Adeline. We can take the elevator next time if you want," he said apologetically.

My jaw dropped.

"You have an elevator?" I asked.

"Yeah, of course," he replied, pointing to a stainless steel set of elevator doors. I heard the machinery grind, and the doors slid open. Jayden came out with all of my suitcases and duffel bags precariously perched in his arms. He wobbled and I made a move to help him, but he grinned and regained his balance.

Mason led me to the end of the hallway with Jayden following behind. He opened the last door and threw it open, sweeping his arm around in a grand gesture. I gasped.

The room was massive. It had a bed in the corner with white sheets and blankets, and four posters with white satin drapings around it. Next to it was an intricately carved white wooden night stand. The closet was on the opposite wall with the door open― the walk-in closet alone was bigger than my whole room back home. The bathroom door opposite the bed was closed, and I could hear Milo and Demitri inside of it, checking for cameras. There was a dresser across from the bed with a massive TV on top of it.

Jayden sidled past me and deposited all of my luggage on the carpet next to my bed before leaving. Milo and Demitri came out of the bedroom, Milo had a handful of teeny-tiny video cams; Demitri had a single Go-Pro in his hand.

"Hey," Demitri said, his voice was deep, "When you shower, make sure you check the tops of the shampoo bottle, the shower head, the pile of towels on the counter, and the temperature control. We'll check weekly; no doubt Ash will find more creative places."

They both left, with me staring after them.

Mason put his hand on the back of my thigh. I flinched, and he pulled away quickly.

"I'm sorry. Does that make you uncomfortable?" he asked, genuinely concerned.

"No," I said, "It just surprised me, that's all."

He nodded.

"Actually..." I hesitated, "It felt kind of nice."

His face lit up, and his hand twitched back to my leg, but Quinn stuck his head into the room. Mason yanked his hand away.

"Hey Mason, come on. Adeline, you can unpack. Dinner's in an hour, so do what you will, and we'll leave you alone."

Mason left, and Quinn shut the door behind them.
