Chapter 5: Suspicions
Hey everyone, well here is the new chapter, with a couple of POV changes. Hope it’s all okay and easy to keep up with so enjoy…..
Elderly Brittany’s POV
I awoke the next morning in the uncomfortable nursing bed on a Sunday, meaning I had apparently been here for nearly a week already. I checked the time to see it was 7:00 and realised sadly old habits never change, I always wake up at 7:00, every single morning. I got up before I had any more bad thoughts on the past and decided to get ready for the day.
I grabbed my walker when I was ready and headed out to the cafeteria hoping to catch Alissia so we could continue on with our recount of the past. I sat down in my usual seat disappointed that Alissia wasn't up yet. My ‘slop’, which I don’t call it lightly, was brought over to me.
“I was told by the chef this was your favorite when you were little” Said the nurse handing me the cutlery for breakfast. I didn't have time to answer her as she was already leaving to help someone else. I was so deep in confusion that I didn't even realise Alissia had arrived. My thoughts were interrupted from her saying…
“I wonder why we are always eating slop, its awful?” she said as she shook her head making her elegant bun shake a little as she went to sit down.
“No one will ever know.” I giggled in response.
As she was being handed her breakfast by another nurse, Alissia began talking to me about how she slept and her dreams. They were, as mine, peaceful and calming, apparently it was because of the memories we had brought up of the camp. We joked and laughed a little more as we finished with our food. When finished Alissia decided it is best for her frail self if we moved to the lounge area. It was a peaceful place that rarely anyone went to so we thought it would be a good place to continue the story…
Young Brittany POV
As I woke up the next day I was so stiff and sore. Realising it was from the agility tests last week. I didn't even bother getting out of bed, thinking they surely wouldn't wake us on a Saturday. Well I was wrong. Three bangs on our door came shortly after my awakening. Not even giving me a chance to pull the cover a little higher. Will the camp leader opened the door and told us we were all needed at the office area. We freaked out thinking we had done something wrong. We got up and got ready, deciding to do it now then procrastinating about it.
Connor and I walked slowly behind the other two; Alissia and Noah were jogging and having a nice chat as usual. We were having a nice casual conversation, recounting about our times in the agility and mental tests. That’s when Connor accidentally spilled the beans. He told me that he knew what Noah had said to me and about the deal. I laughed and shrugged my shoulders and said I had also heard from Alissia about what happened between the two of them…
“It’s okay Connor I don’t mind if you know, I would have rather liked if I told you personally about my feelings towards you” I said to him with a blush rising up my face.
“I know how you feel, but I guess being best friends with those pair (Alissia and Noah) we tell each other everything” he laughed. “Oh also Noah told me I had to get dressed up tonight though and I have no idea what for.”
“Well Noah and Alissia decided the date would be tonight, if that’s okay with you of course” I replied.
“Of course its okay with me, I get to spend more time with you” he said. I blushed a deep red at his remark, not having time to answer because we had arrived at the office.
We all went inside and just like the mental arena; we were greeted by a security guard asking if we had an appointment. Mrs Jarrett came out and greeted us with her usual smile. Although my suspicions began to arise when I saw that there was a man behind her asking another lady some questions? He kept glancing at us but stopped and quickly walked away as soon as he saw me looking. All the curiosity was washed away when we were summoned into a small room with six seats, two facing the other four. A man and a woman sat down and Mrs Jarrett ushered us to sit in the seats facing them. Alissia sat closest to the end and Noah sat next to her. I giggled quietly at how close they were sitting.
