The Monkey Paw

The second wish

I took the ribbon which was used to tied the box and tied onto my hair. I looked into the mirror and said that I looked hideous. I took out the ribbon and placed it on my table. I soon continued to study. I had to pretend to study so that no one would know the monkey paw. At midnight,I went into the internet to search more information of the monkey paw.

It said that the monkey paw could grant you 5 wishes but when all 5 wishes were granted,it would take your life away. It will also take other people things to grant your wish. Example,if you wished for gold,gold will dissappeared from one place and appeared in front of you.

As soon I read the last sentence,I remembered seeing Yamato,our class elite student, suddenly became worried when we were going to take the test. I started to snicker when my long awaited wish had finally granted. I soon off the computer and went to sleep.

The next day,I saw a new transfered student came into our class. "Class,today we have a new transfered student. Please introduce yourself.",the teacher said.

"Sure. I'm Hanako Mizuto. Nice to meet you",the girl said. Everyone in my class was captured by her beauty. She had long jet black hair and a pair of sparkling sea blue eyes. Her body is slim and her face is so pretty. I ignored her as I know everyone is different. During break time,all the boys wanted to eat with her. All the girls except me were envy of her. Some of them were also badmouthing of her. After school sessions were over,I walked home as usual. At that time,I saw Hanako with a few girls were kicking a small kitten. I shouted at them and told them to stop it. They looked at each other and threatened me to join them as well.

I said no and picked up the kitten and treated its injuries. I knew they would bully me in school but I did not care. The next day, it happened as how I predicted. They started to throw my things all over the place. I braven myself and told it to the teacher. Unfortunately,the teacher did not believe me. Instead,she said that I should not pick on Hanako. I got mad and I lost control of myself. I shouted at the teacher and the teacher soon called my parents. I was dragged home and was scolded badly. I was told to go into my room. I covered myself with a blanket and started to curse the girl in my heart. I soon remembered the monkey paw. I stood up and took out the monkey paw. I snickered and said my second wish.

"I wish that I could be a better girl than Hanako Mizuto"

The wish was granted with the cracking sound. I kept the monkey paw and went to bed. Soon I woke up and I looked at myself in the mirror. I could not believe that it was me that time. I looked almost as same as Hanako except for the hair style. I walked down to eat my breakfast and I saw a news about Hanako. It said that Hanako Mizuto was killed in a car accident with her family. No one had survived from the accident.I smiled for a while and continued to eat my breakfast. Soon, I walked to school and apologised to the teacher. The teacher had forgave me and told me to go back to class.

All the student looked at me while saying that I looked pretty. Not only pretty but much more prettier than Hanako. I was very happy when I heard them said like that. When I reached my house,I walked up and picked up the ribbon which was used to tie the box. I tied onto my hair and I looked at myself in the mirror.

"I looked pretty...",I said while smiling. I'm no longer the old 'Shirotori Asaka'. I'm the new 'Shirotori Asaka' now.
