After an afternoon of mixing and matching proved to be valuable. On the way down the elevator at six-thirty, two women gushed and a guy scanned me with a cheeky smile. I felt elegant and a little pretty. Before walking out of the building I examined myself one last time in the new glass divider in the lobby. Lindsey was right about the red shift, it fit well and went perfectly with the variety of accessories I added. Gently I touched the earrings and bracelet, watching the gold sparkle in a mix of florescent light and glowing sun. They really suit my eyes, especially my hair. I wondered that due to his previous ignorant attitude, if I was the only woman that’s seen such beautiful jewellery from Hal. “God, I hope not.” I sighed. Maybe I was wrong, maybe he’s the kind of guy to order in bulk for the next woman. The yellow light began to disappear behind a wall of orange clouds as I walked out to the footpath. It was a bit late for the sun to set. I couldn’t wait to be under the twinkling light of the moon with Hal.
“Good evening, beautiful.” Hal leaned against a car with a wide grin. I examined the vehicle with confused eyes.
“What happened to your car?” It was replaced with a charcoal HiLux with tinted windows.
“Traded it in. Haylen loved this.” He swung the passenger door open. As I climbed in, I noticed a small collection of toys and fake jewellery in the back seat, piled against a child’s car seat. The interior was completely black, with certain components highlighted by silver.
“It’s a pretty attractive car.” I admitted to Hal.
“Thanks,” he said. “All set to go?”
“Absolutely.” I smiled, buckling myself into the seat. We were quiet as he drove, observing the city slowly light up with life.
“You look really pretty.” Hal mentioned, taking a sharp right.
“Thanks. You look alright.” I winked at him. His big hand reached over and grasped mine.
“I want to apologise for that time we had lunch, and when we, you know.” I didn’t click until a second later.
“Oh, it’s all good.” I actually barely remembered that moment. “The thing that’s embedded in my mind is how fast you came.” I could almost hear the embarrassment in his voice.
“Sorry about that. I can control myself most of the time.”
“It’s fine, just remove it from your mind tonight though. I’m still on my rags.” I felt the string of the tampon sticking out from my undies.
“Rags?” His eyes shifted down to my lower half.
“Period,” the car jumped over a speed bump.
“I wasn’t expecting sex anyway.”
“Sure you weren’t.” I laughed at him. “Maybe at Wagga we’ll try.” Did I pack that red lace bra? It came with a tiny G-string but I’m not one for those.
“Just tell me, what kind of person are you in bed?” We began to approach the casino.
“What do you mean? Like kinky?”
“Or along the lines of that.” I don’t think I’ve considered it.
“I don’t really notice. I haven’t had much sex lately.” Oh that sounds horrible.
“Before I was thirty I used to stick it in everything that moved.” An awkward frown appeared on my face.
“Just charming.” My face turned to the window.
“I’m kidding Stacey.” Hal poked my arm. “I kissed more than I boned.”
“That doesn’t make it better.” God that’s awkward. “You don’t have diseases do you?” Oh goodness, please don’t.
