...And it was the final run through of the next-day's Annual Function. Sky was clear and cobalt blue. There was still heat in the sun, even though autumn's tentative caress had come early. Everybody was clumsily active.
Teachers were all busy preparing for the grand event. Workers had so much to do. Enthusiasm was dancing over every student. And the scenario was worth hating.
Amidst the hustling crowd, miss Madhu spoke out,
"All the speakers have to wear a red shirt and a brown trouser."
Speakers? Oh That's how they refer to 'anchors'. Anchors speak, so they are speakers. It's that easy.
But wait, did she ask for a red shirt? Okay, I had a brown trouser already, but not the shirt. They have a habit of demanding things at the eleventh hour.! And what the heck was wrong with the 'white'? It's even more classy.
Engrossed in my thoughts of heavy calculations, I realised that my pocket can't even afford an ice-cream worth twenty, let alone the shirt which would cost me hundreds.!! So I had to arrange it somehow. But whose shirt would fit my heavy trunk?
Boys of my class are all lanky dudes and girls aren't much into shirts.
"Aimee just get me out of this dilemma!" I pleaded.
Aimee is my best girlfriend who has a solution for almost everything.
"Hey, you remember that masculine new guy in the commerce section? The one who sits to your left in computer class!?" She said, raising her right brow up.
"I don't remember. Tell me his name?" I said curiously.
"Barry, Barry Keller"
"Aah, I've heard this name often enough and have also wondered if he belongs to Helen's family.
I mean Helen Keller. But I don't remember seeing him. Is he smart, just asking?""Offffffffffffff course he is. Half of the girls are dying to date him."
"But you told, he is new. Didn't you?"
"That's what the thing is, he is smart enough to drive any girl crazy for him in a fling of second."
"Perhaps. But right now, we want the shirt. So you please ask him if he got any."
"Why me?" Aimee blurted "Go ask yourself na".
"Cause I'm clumsy and awkward when it comes to new people. It's all from my start. Are you gonna go ask him, please?"
"Alright" Aimee said, huskily.
✷
"Hey I asked him and he got a couple of them with a slight variation, one has black prints over it and the other is plain red."
"So which one did you ask for?"
"He's bringing both. You can choose yourself."
"Very well, thanks."
"But you need to take it on your own. I'll be off tomorrow, some family function you see.!! "
"Crap! But Okay it's fine."
"Yeah, and speak nicely. All the best"
"Thank you, enjoy!".
And we bid a high-five. It was dismissal already.
Guys Guys Guys!! I hope you didn't face any perplexion reading this.
I'll try to be regular, but yeah it's horribly difficult for a high school girl to manage everything.
Anyway vote and comment over my story. Please.
