Trying to 'fix' Wii U

I just spent the last four hours trying to fix my family's Wii U console, only for my mum to come back from Glasgow to tell me that I wasted four whole hours trying to fix something that was unfix able. She told me that she has to send it back to the manufacturer in America.

I mean, the console works but it won't connect to the pad. The pad said that I had to enter the symbols on the TV into the pad, but there was no symbols on the TV. So, I tried syncing it again but every time I press the sync button twice, keeps saying 'an error has occurred. Turn off console and try again'. I tried unplugging the console and plugging it in again. But it still won't work. I've searched Google to see if anyone has similar problems and it turns out that a lot of people do. I've tried almost all of the things they did to fix it. But most people just sent it back to be fixed. I asked my mum why she won't send it back to be fixed and she told me to leave, so I did.

And now my mum won't let me play Tomb Raider because and I quote "Used my time for doing something stupid." Well, I'm sorry for trying to do something nice for once. I could've used that time to do anything I wanted because I was home alone but I decided to try and fix the Wii U. And all I got in return was a lecture.
