You swallow thickly, a little too aware of the fact that right now you're lying on top of Wonpil. The darkness highlights his eyes as he glares at you fiercely, his face mere inches from yours. Your breath hitches as you feel the steady throb of his heartbeat under your palm. The air is so full of tension between the two of you, you wouldn't be surprised to see sparks.

"What are you doing here?" he says icily, trapping you with his cold stare.

Mind scrambling, you consider just telling him the truth. After all, you've come this far together. If you don't trust him now, you probably never will.

But just as you open your mouth to speak, DoWoon's words come trickling back to your memory, like cloudy black ink.

"Trust the person who has the same objective as you."

It was less than 24 hours ago that you heard Jae's voice on the phone. The first time in weeks you had finally found a solid lead, and the person who helped you accomplish all of that was DoWoon. You can't risk it now. So you're going to have to do the only other thing you can think of. You're going to play the "damsel in distress" card. You just hope it'll work.

"I'll explain everything to you, but, first, can you let me up?" you say awkwardly.

Wonpil hesitates, but a moment later you feel him release his grip on your wrist. Pressing one hand against his chest gently, you shift yourself backwards until you can place a foot on the floor, then slowly move to standing. Wonpil sits up as well, quietly moving to stand beside you. Glancing at Builder once again, sleeping soundly on the other side of the bed, he nods towards the door before silently leading you into the hall.

Turning to face you abruptly, he crosses his arms, his expression telling you he's not about to let you off the hook. Taking a deep breath, you prepare for one of the most spectacular performances of your life. You just hope you can pull it off.

Digging a toe into the carpet nervously, you stare at the floor shyly, before peering up at him through your eyelashes.

"I-I thought I heard a noise," you lie. "Outside my window. It sounded like someone was trying to break in and I just kind of panicked. Ever since Jae disappeared I haven't been able to sleep and after-" you take a shuddery breath, "after what happened last night I didn't want to be alone. I just wanted to check whether or not you were sleeping. I'm sorry I woke you up."

As Wonpil continues to stare at you, his expression never changing, you begin to feel more and more insecure. Everything you just told him is a complete lie, except for the fact that you can't sleep. Hyper aware of the thin, hard flash drive in your pocket, it takes all of your self-control not to reach for it. But what he does next surprises you.

Reaching forward silently, Wonpil pulls you into a swift, warm embrace. Your head cradled against his chest, you can feel one strong arm firm against your shoulders, the other circling around your waist.

"Everything's ok," he murmurs. "You're safe here. I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I promise."

Heart pounding, you're surprised by how good it feels to be in his arms. You can't deny your attraction to him, but you had always assumed he would be stiff and cold in a situation like this. After all, bad boy gangster doesn't exactly scream sweet, sensitive nice guy. Now you're struggling to keep your composure as a whole mix of emotions floods through you. It's confusing, but you try to brush them aside. You can't afford to fall for anybody right now. Especially in a situation as dangerous as this.

Moving to push yourself out of his embrace, a new voice cuts in coldly.

"What are you two doing?"

You turn your head to find Young K silhouetted in the shadows, his dark eyes trained on yours.
